Ghost in the Shell (But not quite)

The Island stars Hollywood actor Ewan McGregor along with actress Scarlett Johansson in a film that makes up for all the far fetched fantasies of scientist – cloning; but not just simple animal cloning but human cloning – for a cost.

What’s in “The Island?” what sort of mystery does it convey? And what are the surprises in stored for the people who are about to go to “The Island?” and not to mention “the people” those clones? Clones are not people or persons, in fact – they are mere ghosts in a shell. Just like ammos in a magazine, after they had served their purpose – off they go to the dumpster. There is nothing more intriguing about the film besides the title itself.

Have you seen the movie Equilibrium? How about Aeon Flux? Haven’t? Then, tell you what – it is, in some terms, similar to the island but not quite. It is not as boring as the latter. Cloning has always raised issues among the men in white coats. What issues? Ethical. This LP is turning out to be one of those so called hang ups from our other subject – Health Ethics.

For a fact, the movie is something that gives me the creeps. How am I supposed to react if, by any chance, I see myself, and I mean literally – seeing myself just like a mirror image but then, flesh and bones? Weird, isn’t it? Men of great intelligence must know better then meddling with the human DNA and genes and whatever. Its like meddling with time – risky and very dangerous.

What have I learned? Never meddle with things not worth meddling for there exist a great risk of facing yourself not in the mirror but in reality. Huh?

There is no point to this LP - just felt like writing about something. It has always been said; If you can't convince them, confuse them!

What's my point? Here goes.

Clones are mere copies. Copies. COPIES. And as to what this LP is all about, I personally think that in the movie, clones are not ought to live and certainly not ought to be cloned in the first place. I really don’t fancy the idea of cloning and it’s in own way, creepy as it is and rather not so likable. I prefer to be alone than to have a replica. And I certainly don’t certainly fancy the thought that someone is wearing my face and walking around in my own neighborhood.
