Series: Unstoppable Magic “Birth of Ultra” Chapter 1: New Tactics , part 2 of 3 The time came for them all to parachute into Sisyphean, a large city with houses compacted closely together with stacked shelves of rooms on top of each other. Lanterns conveyed the open street, lighting only open areas in the dead of the night. Everything looked old fashioned in this city compared to other small towns on Yggdrasil. Aurora swayed back and forth to her touchdown point and eventually she landed near where Saber was standing, prepped and ready for combat. Saber's hammer was pretty huge for a blunt weapon. The length of it is around 5'6" (not including the pole-arm hilt, the length is 3', width 4', and ends are 2'6"). A work of art crafted by great artisans, the hammers bluntness resembles that of a razor sharp point on the ends, an awesome sight it was. The sides were wrapped with lines of leather ordained with magical jewels to hold the mighty weapon in place, the jewels also allows the wielder to have more ferocity in their attacks. In Saber's other hand is his other lighter handed weapon, his Roo Mirrorolo sword. The length of it is four feet and is about a foot wide from the hilt to the tip. Runes covered the sides of the blade, allowing the wielder to cut through any aura like if it was butter. The image of the blade is living wavy aqua, and the swords color was light red. Aurora's mentor turned to her. "Aurora, come with me. You and I are going down to the East province. Remember, I'll only help you if you're in extreme distress." While equipping her gear, she acknowledged him, thinking she wouldn't need his help to save her. Other Warriors touchdowned apart from each other and went in different groups in separate directions. Saber dashed to his destination and Aurora went after him. Along the brick road, the resistance came with long spears. Bells rang throughout the city, inciting the Action had already taken place. Further in the almost lit darkness, the city guards spotted Saber and her. "Stop and surrender! Tell us why you are here! Stop, I say!" Saber slowed down a little for Aurora to pass him, letting her have her experience with the real thing. Complete alarm sprung on their faces as Aurora drove her sword into one of their chests. Unsheathing it from his corpse with her foot, splattering blood covered Aurora as if it were raining. She eyed the rest of them, her mechanical sword was churning at the tip, and easily dispatched each one in sight. Saber walked up to her and applauded her, clapping his hands. "Very good! You closed your emotions and your ears. Words can have power over those who are weak minded, such words can wound you in combat and slow your actions, enabling your opponent to get the better of you. The first major rule of a Warrior is to rid your emotions during combat, nothing less." With that said, Saber picked up his weapons on the ground. Smears of blood covered Aurora's face as she let out a little giggle. She was so happy; this was the first time Saber had actually praised her, ever! Gathering her wits, Aurora ran down the half lit streets with Saber following her. On their way, they ran into other obstacle's, more than before. With great speed, she dispatched them all. Her other victims followed as more dozen guard bodies littered the street, also dead. Aurora's adrenaline pumped really fast... knowing that she had to please her mentor. Saber gave a half frown, pondering. She had good technique and enough skill, but something seemed to be off about her. Something told him she was actually enjoying killing her enemies. Saber looked into the night sky. "She's too innocent for all this, maybe I need to evaluate my own advice." Aurora spotted her comrades in the distance, who seemed rather tense. The street was rundown with agonized gasping Warriors. Some were on the ground right by a Myistic wearing a lavender cape. He was definitely a fledged Wizard. With actual green hair, he wore leathery gauntlets and a modest vest with baggy pants. Some normal guards seemed to be behind him also. Aurora walked quickly up to her comrades to make her presence known. The unknown Wizard roared. "Go back to where you all came from! I do not know why you all are here, but you are not wanted here! There is no way you can beat me, so go home! Leave us in peace!" Hearing this, Aurora walked toward the Wizard, gesturing the other Warriors to halt with her hand. With avid determination, she spoke to them without turning her head. "Leave him to me." The Wizard shot out his hand, releasing several continuous lightning bolts. Aurora quickly dodged them, moving back and forth. Dodging still, heavy vines came out of the street and shot forth toward her; seeing this, she jumped high in the air. The movement of the Wizards other arm flexed in a different direction, a fiery nexus ball formed in that hand and grew bigger. "Fireballs!" The Wizard shouted out, invoking his harnessed power to his other and released it. A dozen big fireballs sprung forth from his hand toward Aurora who was in the sky, she countered by downloading a spell forth, a small silver ray of ice burst forth. It collided with one of the fireballs and was easily diminished. A fireball socked her right after another, and she was knocked to the ground in a heaping thump. Watching, Saber came up and stood by his underlings, who were looking pretty worried. The unknown Wizard finally saw Saber's presence and along with his unique weapons. "To what honor do we have a Veteran Warrior here? I was beginning to think these others were all just a bunch of thieves. What is the meaning of this blatant attack?! Who are you?! Are you the leader?!" Saber spoke with calmness. "First off, I'm Saber, Diminishing Souls. Never you mind about our agendas, you're in the way. How unfortunate of you to cross paths with me, you low grade Wizard." Saber readied himself. Mustering her strength, Aurora slowly got up, with a shaky voice filled with confidence. "Don't interrupt my fight. I can take him. Please... Master!" Saber smiled and didn't hesitate, reaching for an herb in his satchel and concocted it with glowing stardust magic, then sent it to Aurora. The stardust spiraled around her from head to toe, making continuous wavy lines. Aurora was now rejuvenated. Every Myistic on Gallance knows the "Spin Cycle" spell. Easily conjured, it allows a Myistic to concoct any kind of herbal remedy to be used during combat without stunting time to consume an herb. With a new found determination, Aurora downloaded a freezing spell, and pointed her fingers to the Wizard's feet. Artic icy blasts sprung forth toward him; the Wizard jumped up to evade the freezing process. Sheets of ice practically took up the entire battlefield. The Wizard in mid-air tossed a few linear lightning bolts at Aurora, with ease she braced her feet and skied out of the way to the Wizards landing point. Downloading, she unleashed a small blizzard in his direction that pelted him; the Wizard covered his eyes. Landing, he kinda lost his balance a little, and formed a fire blade from nothing, desperately sweeping it at Aurora. She easily blocks with her shield and brings up a mighty vertical downward slash on him, knocking him across the plane a few yards. Still unharmed, this difficult Wizard countered. Big vines came out of the ground to capture Aurora, but she unleashes an ice download, stopping them in their tracks. Conjuring another spell, a big boulder forms in front of the Wizard and pile drives it fast way toward her. Evading to the left, she finally downloads her favorite spell, and places her shield hand on her sword. Turning off the sword to work, mistily she created a longer sharp blade of ice version. Aurora rushes her opponent as the boulder smashes into a nearby building. Preparing, the Wizard flashes fire darts at her, which she dodges and slides underneath him and comes up behind him at a fast pace. Bracing herself, she watched him turn around with a big fireball forming at his hand. Aurora downloaded again, placing it on her already icy brand, and thrust her sword with incredible fierceness toward the fireball. Meeting with little resistance, the blade pierced the fiery charge and swept it away. Aiming true, the blade knocked the Wizard to the ground. Aurora sensed his aura dissipate and anxiously moved in for the kill. Stumbling to his feet while bleeding a little at the mouth, the Wizard faced Aurora with a spell at hand. Her blade was normal again, and she unleashed a cool move. Pressing her full automatic release button, she sent her riveting shurikens toward him, and they hit the melancholy Wizard head on. Choking back gushes of blood from his mouth, he attempted to evade her. Aurora sliced horizontally in his gut, ending the fight. The unknown Wizard slumped sideways to the ground, gasping his last breath. Tired from her bout, Aurora breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from her face. She then faced the guards, who were already in a panic to get the hell outta there. Her fellow comrades cheered for her as they left in pursuit of the fleeing guards. Saber whistled coming next to her and pat her on the shoulder. "Well done. I can hardly believe it. You just defeated a tougher opponent than yourself." "Can we walk this one through? I, I'm kinda tired right now." Aurora replied. "Well, as long as you don't go soft on me, okay." They both laughed at his joke, and went on out after the others. The guards, who were being pursued, ran quickly as they could but they were running out of energy. One of them happily spotted a lone Wizard with lavender hair, wearing a designer red cape. Every Myistic in Sisyphean practically knew him to be a strong type Wizard, though they never saw him wield magic, they respected him in a way. They knew they were throwing away their lives for asking him for a favor as great as this, but death was already at their doorstep. One of the guards shouted with anxiety. "Warriors are on their way here! Please help us!" However, the strange man in the red cape kept on walking away from them. Catching up to him, they exclaimed. "We need your assistance! Help us!" The peculiar man finally stopped and spoke out his irritation. "What do you want? I am busy right now!" Panicking, one of them said with alarm. "Warriors are invading Sisyphean as we speak, soon the city will be overrun by those ruffians. We are begging you to help get rid of them." The lone Wizard just blew him off. "How is this my problem? Have an unhappy day, alright." The guards gasped in disbelief. Seeing quick movement in the background, a guard pointed at the Warriors in heavy pursuit. Stepping backward, he shakily sputtered. "They are here! The Warriors are here! Run for it!" With that, the guards fled for their lives. The blatant Wizard turned around to see dozens of Warriors heading in his direction. "There's a Wizard up ahead!", "Die, you spineless Wizard!", "You won't escape!", "Wizards are nothing to worry about. Only one of them are ahead, easy kill!" The Warriors were shouting gleefully. This Wizard just stood his ground, giving them a hard stare. "Live by the sword, die by the sword. Okay, NO MERCY!!" As these over-zealous Warriors approached him from a distance, the crude man unsheathed a walking stick from his cloak. Gripping speed took him, flashing through to the other side, his back to the horde. The strange man’s right arm crossed his left. An amazing sight brought forth a giant sword, expanding over the street. Soaking with rich warm blood, the sword revealed evil intentions. A few seconds after time stopped, the Warriors torsos left their other halves and bloodily fell on the others; none survived. With an improved mood, the mysterious wizard marveled at the spectacle of his work. His huge sword changed into a cane again. “It never fails. These impudent Myistic’s are just fools and weaklings! I can’t believe I just wasted my time on them! Insufferable!” Saber and Aurora walked side-by-side, chatting. “I wonder if I have to challenge someone like that again?” Aurora asked gleefully. “Knowing you, you’ll probably be happy about it. You can bet you gained a lot of strength and experience from that fight.” “Thanks Master Saber, that means a lot coming from you. Any serious fighter would’ve persevered just like me.” “Somehow I doubt that but…” Saber hesitated, waning his voice. …I’m worried about your state of mind a little bit.” “I don’t understand, Master Saber. What am I still lacking?” Still walking, Saber sighed and spoke. “Listen to me well, Aurora. Even I, a great swordsman, have yet to learn all about enlightenment. Following orders is one thing and carrying them out…” Saber got more into what he was saying, “…but all living creatures have a purpose to coexist with each other. Our hearts beat for one another. There will be times when you have to think for yourself and follow your own heart, even though you have to follow your superiors. There are times when you have to fight on command for the sake of your kingdom… But never ever, lose your heart in the process. Even though now as I speak, you probably don’t understand what I’m saying, but soon you will.” They walked in silence, until seeing Vinos and Hare in the far distance, chatting with some other Warriors. Laced close to the two veteran Warriors, was a grotesque massacre full of dead Warriors. “What the heck happened?!” Aurora shouted, she and Saber rushed toward the scene. Vinos turned to face them, uneasiness in his eyes. “So, you’ve come this far at last. Just so you know, be wary from now on.” Vinos advised. Hare just half-turned his head to acknowledge them. “This is nothing I can’t handle.” Saber collected himself. “What’s the report on this situation?” Vinos expression turned a little grim. “No survivors or witnesses can concur what happened here. My opinion, someone very strong took them all out.” Vinos continued. “A master Wizard could be in the area. You do know what that means don’t you?” Saber shuddered without shaking, horribly thinking. A master Wizard has the ability to command the elements to the size of the skies, a very rare rank that any wizard can obtain. In the average Wizard training, it takes them about five hundred years to master a single element completely. The learning elements for Wizard’s are fire, ice, lightening, dirt, water, and wind. For Warriors it is fire, ice, lightening, and last being the strongest is demi. “What are you going to do? Are you going to go after this assailant?” Saber asked. Vinos regarded him. “Correct. Going after this wizard is my priority. As of well, you will accompany me and Hare. We check all the suburbs in every area, no rock shall be unturned. Hare finally turned around to face Saber, expression-less on his face. “I shall face this opponent alone… if we should come to this known threat.” With that said, he walked toward the other scared Warriors. “If I’m going with you…” Saber said, putting his hand on Aurora’s shoulder. “She’s coming along as well. Okay?” Vinos acknowledged him by nodding his head. At that point they were off. Little did they know that bringing Aurora along was a huge mistake. House after house, street by street, Aurora and the others searched for about an hour until they came upon the scene of a hidden basement. This particular basement was a pretty drafty, spacious area. Shredded towels hanging on shelves were the only decoration. On the other side of the entrance, seventeen yards away stood a female wizard with light green hair, and stooping behind her was a female child beginning puberty. The child’s hair color was pink. Vinos grinned with delight as he always does when he finds a Wizard. Saber and Hare just stood there in silence, staring at the wizard pair. “Well here we are… Two more wizards to send to the abyss and beyond. I sure love this job. Vinos said with glee, loud enough for the pair to hear. Hare regarded him. “Just get this over with, there’s no time to waste.” Aurora shared the same thought. Vinos took his two long stand-ups from behind his belt while setting down his huge mecha cannon. Using a press-release, out came a ninja sword in each tube. Grasping the blades in each hand, Vinos faced off against the over-tenacious green-haired Wizard. The Wizard started harnessing a fiery texture on her staff. Seeing that, Vinos charged her. The unknown Wizard released her energy from her staff to her other hand, shooting forth a mighty fireball. Vinos met it with one of his blades as a shield, cutting through the easy obstacle. Preparing a dirt spell, the wizard turned into living stone, holding fast with her staff in front of her. Vinos struck down at her with all his might, diagonally crushing her staff. With that, Vinos stopped and stepped back a few to the left, letting the others see his venture. The living statue wizard just stood there with her broken staff in each hand, seconds later, the statue broke in half and crumbled to the ground. Right beside the crumbled statue stood the wizard child, huge shock in her eyes. The child knelt down next to the rock debris. “Mother, are you okay? Can you get up?” But there was no answer. Desperately trying to find a response, she kept asking for her mother’s welfare. “Please get up Mother, you’re scaring me!” Still no response came. Vinos pointed his blade at the child. “Your mother is dead, as of any Wizard who stands before me. Prepare to defend yourself, you Wizard.” Hearing that, Saber’s heart panged, searching for any kind of answer. Baring not to see any injustice, Saber spoke while rushing toward the two. “Hold on! How do you know she is a Wizard?!” Saber stood beside Vinos. Vinos turned, incredibly facing him. “Isn’t it obvious? The Wizard sitting there confirmed that rock pile is her mother. That means she’s a Wizard!” Aurora watched with confusion, not understanding what was going on. Not relenting, Saber shot back. “She’s no threat. I don’t see a Wizard anywhere! All I see is a harmless child who will probably now not become a Wizard.” Vinos gave Saber a cold stare. “Are trying to imply that I have no judgment on who’s a Wizard? To me, every Myistic on Yarrow is a Wizard. Don’t tell me you are going against my orders, are you?” At the corner of Aurora’s eye, she saw for the first time Hares expression. That of amusement. Panicking, Aurora stepped a few feet in front of her, and spoke up. “Saber!! What are you doing?! Cut that out! What are you trying to prove?!” Saber just ignored her and closed his eyes while nodding his head. Finally opening his eyes. “I can’t allow this travesty of justice to take place. If Haust was still the general, your stupid judgment would mean nothing. He would never let this happen.” Disappointed by Saber’s response, Vinos sighed. “Is that so? So that’s how you feel. Betraying your country over a little girl, a Wizard at that.” Vinos continued with ferocity. “By defying one of the Warrior laws, you yourself have put your life in jeopardy!” Aurora felt a wave of shock; her whole body became all numb with fear. It felt like her legs weighed that of huge boulders. Hare spoke for the first time since they entered the basement. “Vinos, just kill him already.” A hundred shocks came through Aurora’s body, feeling soulless. She knew exactly what that meant. Saber would die for sure; Hare‘s word was law, next to the Queen. Saber readied his weapons in response to Hare’s answer and got between Vinos and the child, whom now was already sobbing. “You’ll have to cross over my dead body to get this child, okay. Maybe after you’re dead I can lead the Warriors to victory… without brutally killing the innocent!” The child looked up, tears in her eyes, gasping. Vinos just looked at Saber with ready malice. “Like you would know how to lead an army, you traitor! Prepare to die!” With that, Hare mysteriously vanished with great speed and came upon Saber with his sword-axe. Saber blocked with his mega hammer and swiped at him with his other weapon. Hare released one hand to reach out and stop the blade. Holding fast, both of them stood their ground. Vinos entered the fray by downloading powerful lightening radians on his weapons and struck downward at Saber’s right side. Evading, Saber left Hare as Vinos pursued him across the floor. With his sword hand, Saber downloaded powerful flaming balls forth toward Vinos. Cutting through them, Vinos downloaded the same spell and aimed at the ceiling above Saber. Impacting on the ceiling, it resulted in a big gaping hole in the ceiling. A figure launched down in the hole and attempted to pierce Saber with ninja sabers. A close call, Saber swiftly moves out of the way. The figure touch downed on the floor. As the debris passed, the figure was known as Sagharo, a master ninja Warrior. Wearing black ninja garbs, the black-haired Warrior had an “ASE” suit attached also. Immediately, Sagharo swiftly leapt in the air throwing shurikens at Saber. Overwhelmed, Saber attempted to flee but was met with Hare’s mighty weapon in the gut. That alone was enough to bring the strong Saber to his knees. Panting, Saber got up and brought his sword to where Vinos was standing. Sagharo and Hare both struck him, practically ending the fight. Saber fell to the floor in heaping gasps, resigned to his fate. Vinos finished Saber off by pelting him with his swords. With Saber dead, Vinos said with relief. “Sentimental idiot, your kind makes me sick.” A second later, Saber’s sword lost it’s color and liveliness, turning to sheer clearness like that of glass. Without even thinking a single thought, Aurora ran toward Saber’s dead body and hefted it up and continued toward the child, stopping a few feet of her. Aurora turned ready in attack stance toward the three veterans. They just stared at her in disbelief, except for Hare. Vinos let out a mighty laugh and continued to laugh. Ten seconds later, Vinos sobered. “Get out of the way, you moron. What the heck do think you’re doing?” Aurora unsure of herself, though, spoke as if somebody else was telling her what to say. “I don’t care what you do with me. Just leave this kid alone!” Vinos could hardly believe what he was hearing; a novice was defying him and two other master Warriors. The sword glowed in Aurora’s hands, reviving its lively contour lines. A light-blue texture emitted in the blade. Moments later, Vinos gave Aurora a skeptical glare, not feeling threatened at all. “You have a lot of nerve pointing a hostile weapon at me. Are you throwing your life away?” Aurora ignored him, speaking. “As I said before, I’m not leaving this spot. One of many great lessons I learned from Saber is to be true to your heart. Seeing his death has brought me to a point where I have to defend others who need it most.” Aurora’s face turned sorrowful, continuing on. “I know I can’t beat you. I know that. But I can’t stand his death. I have to live on protecting what he wanted. Please forgive me.” Unamused by the lack of challenge, Hare sat on the floor, and started cleaning his sword-axe. Sagharo spoke to Vinos. “Do want me to handle this?” Vinos just rolled his eyes at him, sarcastically saying. “Don’t insult me. I’ll do what I must.” Vinos turned Aurora, menacingly. “Now, you see here, girl! Drop the weapon! Don’t make me do what I want to do!” At that, Aurora started getting angry. “No way! You’ll pay for what you did! Saber was just trying to be nice, but you killed him! You evil MAN!” “Unforgivable!” Aurora screamed with hatred. Hare just yawned. Sagharo just put his hand to his eyes. Seeing that this was going nowhere fast, Vinos drew his weapons at her. “Don’t think I don’t know who you are. How sad the renowned, great retired general, Haust, would feel if his only heir were to be slain before she reproduces. A title, traitor at that. For shame you dishonor your father… AND the entire continent of Yggdrasil!” Aurora drew her head down and started crying. Seconds later she turned her head toward the child and dead mother. The child was bawling over the crumbled pieces that were once her mother. Aurora brought her head back into position with sheer determination, grasping the blade at her new enemies. “Hey, you there? Can you help me fight?” The child looked up in confusion. Aurora continued. “You can fight, can’t you? Find it in your heart to help me fight them. I can’t do this alone. So, will you help me?” The child spoke with concern. “I will try. But I am scared. I will not be much use to you.” Aurora’s heart suddenly felt reassured, full of energy to take on any opponent. “Don’t worry about it. Just don’t leave my side, okay?” The child cheered up a little and got her to feet. The duo now stood before the three veterans. “Disgraceful! I can’t bear to watch you make a mockery out of me! This very day, you have sealed your own fate!” Vinos roared, bringing his swords in the air. He charged at the duo. Unexpectantly, a mysterious Wizard shot through the ceiling between Vinos and the duo (Not the one Sagharo came from). This Wizard easily parried Vinos and kicked him back a few yards. Debris still spilling, the Wizard stepped toward the warriors. “I challenge you. You three will be my opponents.” Hare got up and readied his weapon. Flinging his hand forward, wind came forth from the unknown Wizard’s hand and slammed into the veterans with great force, knocking them back against other side of the wall. With that done, the wizard evoked another spell. Between him and the warriors, a huge amount of stone like dirt came from the sides the basement and sealed them together, blocking the Warriors from coming near. Long lavender hair swished around the Wizards body as he turned to the two dazed girls, saying immediately. “If you two value your lives, come with me!” Wasting no time at all, the great Wizard levitated them and himself through the crevice of the basement ceiling and crashed through the first floor wall, like a cutting invisible barrier. They all landed safely on the street without destroying the ground. Miraculously, Aurora stood in awe of the Wizard’s great power, thinking. It was amazing he stood up and threw those veterans away, not just that, she noticed that the unknown Wizard didn’t even have to gather the elements and harness ‘em. The elements were all already bent for him to use at any time. Can such a Wizard do that? “Hurry up and leave the city now. Leave now!” Facing them now, the red caped Wizard focused on the duo. Aurora was still dumbstruck. “But-t-t…” The Wizard started to get irritated, shouting. “Get a move on! What are you waiting for?! Hurry up!” The child just stared at him, doing nothing but fidgeting with her fingers. Aurora shockingly said. “Don’t shout so loud. Someone could hear you. Besides I’m trying to think.” The Wizard just rolled his eyes, sarcastically saying. “I turn deaf ear to you about if anybody hears me or not, they all don’t matter to me. The part I’m worried about is your way of thinking. You are such a f##king idiot!” Aurora’s face drained, the madman continued. “What were you actually thinking?! Going up against a Warrior general like that, and two other very strong Warriors! You f##king b###h!! Total foolhardiness!! You should know your limits! An apron is more suited for you!” Aurora couldn’t believe what she was hearing; she’d never been so insulted in all her life. A little scared but with sudden participation, the child murmured. “Ummm… Can I say something?” The madman glared at the child, anew with already irritation. “What I-s I-t?” He said while grinding his teeth. A little uneasy, the little one spoke. “I, I do wonder? If-f you are not too busy. Can you save the king and queen?” The madman’s eyes started twitching and his jaw dropped open in amazement. His jaw remained like that for twenty seconds straight. With incredible anger, the madman shouted at the top of his lungs. “What you do is your own business!! Me, I will not stroll around through the city with a couple of b#####s on a leash!! Find another poor sap to be your bodyguard!!” “Hey! I thought I heard something! There they are! A couple of Wizards! Get ‘em!” A nearby platoon of about a dozen Warrior’s, charged on command toward the madman with their weapons ready. The madman ignored them, still rebuking the duo. Really uneasy about his lack of concern about their new predicament, Aurora tried to interrupt him. “Uh, do you know there are a lot of Warriors attacking us right now? Shouldn’t you turn around?” The madman stopped what he was saying by shouting. “Do not interrupt! I hate that! You could not be much more of a moron! I never waste my time… concisely on small vermin!” A few Warriors got within striking distance. “Who are you calling, vermin?!” One of them retorted, attacking the madman. A second away from hitting him, the Warrior vanished into thin air… along with the rest of the platoon.
