Ah, Devil May Cry....how I love thee...AHEM!
Devil May Cry 4, the newest in the line of the Devil May Cry franchise. Sure, it's action packed but was it as good as the games before it!? We shall see...
Overall, I was VERY happy to hear of a new DMC, I mean HELL, the first three were so kick ass, I longed for another ASAP. After a long wait time, the game was released and Melis here got it a day later for her xbox 360.
I was wary at first as to how to handle the xbox360, as this is the first game I played on it, however the controls fit well and the screens and such blended smoothly with the button controls, making for quick and easy item and selection screens.
Storyline: A big factor. For one, newcomer Nero joins the party and it seemed many had condemed the poor boy before he even had a chance to prove himself! I was wary, however his sexy good looks won me over, along with his manerisisms and personality! XD Overall, the storyline is pretty simple, and nothing really new, however, I did find it interesting and LOVED the opening movie. Dante makes an appearance, along with Trish and Lady, both of whom have..."blossomed" quite well. I was a bit confused as to who Nero was and why and how he is related to Dante if at all, along with the fact as to why his arm is indeed demonic. Perhaps I missed that part, so I'll play through it again, but hey if anyone knows, leave a comment please! XD All in all, the story was good and entertaining, as well as interesting and kept me motivated to play it through to the end. There was never a part where I went "boooring" XD
Over all game play: Overall, the game play is pretty simple, mostly button mashing. This cost the game some points in game review magazines, which makes me wonder, as the button mashing and hacking and slashing is indeed what makes DMC, well DMC! I wouldn't enjoy the series if it had an RPG or turn based battle system x_X Also, some puzzles, like that good for nothing rotatting blade you must acend near the end of the game drove me MAD! I got so frustrated I had to stop playing and let my brother do it for me before I did something rash and break the TV...aside from the fact I was swearing at Nero like a sailor >.> Also, the beams that you had to 'freeze' were annoying as well. Missions were short but well paced for the most part. Most were over in less then 30 minutes, however that suited me just fine. I had no intention of prancing around the same area for over an hour XD Lastly, the 'boob bouncing' factor is really getting annoying x_X I mean Trish would take a step and her boobs would bounce for almost a minute or more x_X It wasn't really bad, just annoying! I mean jeez, they dont't bounce THAT long! It amazed me her chest was so small, as I feard she would suffer a tradgedy like the poor girls of Dead or Alive! Overall, I have to admit the boob bouncing is quite hilarious, I wonder, do my boobs bounce that long after I take a step??? XP
Final word: Overall, I am very pleased with the game. The price was a bit high, but the graphics, story, and gameplay were excellent and all the characters were perfectly in character. I was never bored, and enjoyed ever minute of it...except that darn spinning blade thingy X_X The movie scenes were stunning and AMAZING! Voice acting was wonderful and the ending was very fitting. Speaking of the ending, it annoyed me that to see the 'true' ending you needed to protect Nero's girl. It is near impossible I tell you! x_X Those darn scarecrow things pop up out of everywhere! Like DAISES!
All in all, this baby gets a 5 out of 5! I hope the next DMC will be just as good or better! If you are skeptical, don't be. DMC4 is just like the other DMC's and Nero is just as awesome as Dante! Overall, this was money well spent and I'm VERY happy I was able to get the special edition!!! Wonderful! I LOVE YOU CAPCOM XD
DMC4...One of the best games i've played in a long time!

Was it repetitive playing Dante?
