Chapter 1

More shrieks warn me to fly away and fast! I make it home, but something is not right. A spiral light of yellow and gold flash outside. Shouts come from inside the house. I back away slowly so to be able to catch site of the downsiders cuffing my parents and looking for something…oh ya me!

I dive into bush and hear some beats of a chopper overhead. I look out the bush still hidden though and see my parent’s wings are cuffed to their backs—OUCH—and enter the chopper. The chopper and lights go away.

I wait for a few more minutes just in case they come back then walk to the door. On the door is a notice saying this.

                Attention!  For government reasons the Hiami family has been placed under arrest and this house will be demolished in the matter of 86 hours. If you have any information on the Hiami daughter Kai call xxx-xxxx-xxxx for an award.

“No signage great” I said to myself. Some rustling in the bushes startled me. I turn around to see that it was only my best friend Kei.

“KEI?!?!?! What are you doing here!?!?!” I asked. Kei has been my best friend since we were 3. He glared at me.

“I came ‘cause I saw the downsiders fly over head in their chopper just a few minutes ago” he said.

“You okay what happened?” he asked

“How the hell am I supposed to know I got here and the jerks from kiss my bottom cuffing my parents and what got me here the shrieks in the east” I explained

He glared at me again and I glared back. “What you don’t believe me then read this” I said handing over the notice.

His gorgeous pale green eyes—did I just say gorgeous? Oh well—went wide. He said nothing and handed back the notice. He was quiet for nearly five minutes then grabbed my wrist and started dragging me to the one place we could talk without anyone finding us and then calling the downsiders or worse…

If you’re wondering about this place is it’s our hideout we made when we were 6 under ground near a rotted pine tree. It is a great place, but yes we have had to repave the place and make it bigger so we could spread our wings and relax, but for the past 8 years it has been a place we call home away from home. Kei and I nestled in and spread our wings. I look at Kei’s wings they are white.

“What are you looking at?” he asked looking at me.

“Noting just thinking about a plan to get my parents back without getting found out” I said not all of it was a lie just the nothing part, but the plan I am thinking of is real.

Looking at the notice again anger grew again and questions swam in my head. “What do they want with us and why us? We never bothered them, but every time some info leaks out about us they swarm out and grab as many of us as they can get ugh this is giving me a head ace”.

“So what are we going to do?” Kei asked. I put the notice down and started to brainstorm.
