Chapter Four
Madeleine gulped. Brittany collapsed. They did not know what to do.
Madeleine held her watch up to her face. She gasped. It was no longer Thursday.
“That’s it. We must find a way out of here. There must be...” Madeleine said, crying. She ran over to a wall. She pounded on it, bones cracking, and smashing against the floor. She wall started shaking a bit, but Madeleine was too upset to notice, so was Brittany.
“There must be…” Madeleine wept.
‘There isn’t.’
Madeleine turned around, tears being flicked off of her face, hair swept in front of it. Brittany removed her head from her knees. She was flooding with tears.
Something came crashing from the ceiling. Blackness surrounded the room. Suddenly, white appeared in the still, night like, air. Next came, blue, dark blue, black, red, and finally, a piercing silver. Light bounced off the silver object. Madeleine and Brittany gasped… for there was a human standing in front of them. A living one.
The human bounced back, and the Madeleine and Brittany saw a huge gaping hole in the ceiling. The human flew up into the blackness of the hole.
Then it came soaring down. It landed on top of a gargoyle statue that stuck out of the wall.
“Why did you come in here?” It asked.
“Um…” Madeleine gulped, muttering, “Why is it your business?”
The gargoyle snapped. The human whizzed off.
“Don’t ever say that again. I am here to help you, and don’t you ever forget that.”
Madeleine turned around.
The human looked at Madeleine, black feathers coming off of her white black wings, wide blue sleeves spreading from her arms. Her black belt twisted around her, her sheathe quickly following it. Her eyes softened, into an orange gold color. She lifted her hand to get some of the few strands of the white hairs in her face. And in the hand she used to push away the white strands was the silver object. It had many inscriptions on it, it looked utterly flat, but it was too sharp to be anything other than…
A Katana.
“Who a-a-are you?” Brittany stuttered.
Madeleine backed up, Brittan got up and followed.
“Me,” The girl responded, “Oh…”
“You’re here, but I bet it’s not ‘cause you want to help us…” Madeleine spoke, in a shaky uncertain voice.
“Why would you say that?” She asked, and then lifted the katana up to her face. She pointed at the girls. Then she said…
“I’m what you want me to be. I can be a killer, and you will be gone in one second, trust me, I will not hesitate to take you out.” She swiped her blade.
Madeleine covered her face, Brittany got behind her.
“Or…” She started again, putting her blade down, “I can be the only person here that will help you. It is you choice.”
Madeleine and Brittany looked at each other.
“How do we know you will not kill us?” Madeleine asked.
“Were you not listening? If I were to kill you, I would not hesitate, there is not one place that has more security or that is more perilous anywhere in this house. You are defenseless, and you will never find any defense, you are so very likely to die, do you wish for my help or not?”
“Yes…please” Brittany spoke out.
So all three girls looked around. They found only one exit, the gaping black hole in the ceiling.
“Let’s go!” The girl instructed.
“Hey, if you were in here before, do you have daggers?”
“Yes, do you not see where the daggers are? My hair, my sleeves, my belt?” She questioned.
The samurai had been right, there were daggers tied to her hair, chains holding daggers to her shirt sleeves and daggers in pouches on her belt.
“What is your name then?”
“I am Yumi, the Daggered Warrior of the House of Daggers.”
