For those of you wondering about the sudden disappearance of all my fiction from the site, let me tell you what's going on.

As some of you know, my clan, Mostly Literate Clan, moved to our own site in April.  We were planning on continuing to post fiction here, but then one of our members found a very interesting clause in TP's TOS.

You are solely responsible for your own User Submissions and the consequences of posting or publishing them. In connection with User Submissions, you affirm, represent, and/or warrant that: (i) you own or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to use and authorize TOKYOPOP to use all patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights in and to any and all User Submissions to enable inclusion and use of the User Submissions in the manner contemplated by the Website and these Terms of Use; and (ii) you have the written consent, release, and/or permission of each and every identifiable individual person in the User Submission to use the name or likeness of each and every such identifiable individual person to enable inclusion and use of the User Submissions in the manner contemplated by the Website and these Terms of Use. For clarity, you retain all of your ownership rights in your User Submissions. However, by submitting the User Submissions to TOKYOPOP, you hereby grant TOKYOPOP a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicenseable and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the User Submissions in connection with the Website and TOYOPOP’s (and its successor's) business, including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of the Website (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels. You also hereby grant each user of the Website a non-exclusive license to access your User Submissions through the Website, and to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display and perform such User Submissions as permitted through the functionality of the Website and under these Terms of Use. The foregoing license granted by you terminates once you remove or delete a User Submission from the Website.

For those of you who don't understand lawyer speak, let me translate.  Whenever you post anything, Tokyopop (and anyone using Tokyopop) can use your work in any way that they want without notifying you.  Hmm, maybe it's just me, but that doesn't seem quite right.

For this reason, I have removed almost all my fiction from Tokyopop.  The stuff that I've left posted is mostly MLC months and "When Good Writers Go Bad!"  Everything else is being moved to our new site, www.legendsofsatura.com (which has a 100% author retained copyright policy) or Google Docs.  I'm very sorry for the inconvenience (especially to those of you who are returning readers), but, although I'm not planning on publishing anything, I do feel that my characters are mine and NOT Tokyopop's.

I am still keeping the Tokypop headquarters of MLC running, although the site is making it very difficult for me, since I can't delete the junk which is quickly piling up.  *sigh*
