This may be the hardest review I will ever write. As of January 19th, 2008, I declare that I am not authorized to talk about this movie without anyone who has not seen it. I would like the people that have not seen this movie yet to be informed that this review may include spoilers; be cautious.
The monster in this movie has been said to be many things before its silver-screen appearance. People have said it was Godzilla, C'thulhu, or a Lion. I can say that it is none of the listen above. To be honest, I really do not know what to call it.
The monster is quite possibly the last thing you can think of. By now, you can tell that they do show it. darn straight they do!
The basic plot has been known since the trailer. Rob Hawkins is going to Japan and his friends throw him a good-bye party. While there, they hear an earthquaking roar and they go to the roof to see what it was. They see a massive explosion and are bombarded with firey chunks of metal.
The movie is all made with a handeld camera. It is much like The Blair Witch Project. (Which I have yet to see...) So be prepared for some awesome shots and some good comments from the cameraman, Hud.
Although the movie is under 90 minutes, every minute is wild and worth it! There are plenty of laughs, and maybe one or two in the most serious moments. Plus, the suspense and terror is simply amazing. I am satisfied to 100%.
Although the only flaw with this movie is that one or two moments are far too predictable. One moment I had a feeling that there was going to be something in the subway. When they turn the nightvision on, guess what? I'm right!
But, overall, this movie is simply going to blow your effin socks off your effin body. If you loved Blair Witch, then you'll be far too attracted to this. Also, if you are a monster or kaiju fan, then there is no doubt that you will love it.
Final Word: Blair Witch Project+Godzilla=Cloverfield
Spoiler: ITS THE STAY-PUFF MARSHMELLOW MAN! RUN AWAY!
i'll have to go see it now
Cloverfield has been the hype since Transformers. Finally, I see it!
