Death Note English Review: The Series

Review of "Death Note English Series"
Review Type: Manga & Anime

I loved Death Note. I still do. It was something you could not replace after it was over. How could you, anyway? The characters, the plot, the dialogue... EVERYTHING! I really am a big Death Note fan. I have a shirt and everything. All the books. Working on the DVDs still. And I watched most of the show. Then Cartoon Network went digital cable and I could not watch it at night anymore. A pity to miss the second season.

Back when the show debuted, I said that the voices weren't the best choices. I now regret that. I have come to love the voices picked for the characters. And better yet, it dubbed really well. I could swear the characters were speaking english.

And yet, I find out the tale of Death Note Anime has come to a close. And I have missed it. Yet, I shall watch it soon enough. But I am even more saddened now. I really don't have much to do now with Death Note gone. What is really going to happen with it now? Is it done? If so, I'll have to push towards Fullmetal Alchemist now and deal with that.

Death Note is quite possibly the best show, series, english dub, anime, and manga ever made. You hate to love most of the characters. You love to love some characters. And you love to hate Misa. Nevertheless, you hate to hate the villians.

Now that it is over, I can actually see Light as a bad guy. He meant well and all, but really, he was evil at heart. One person cannot rule the world as a god while God watches above. You can have a Shinigami with you, but that won't do anything. Nobody, no matter how much power can be a god, other than God himself.

The art in Death Note was always breath taking; It brought light upon the spots in the manga that you could not pin point the exact time. It also gave the characters the exact color that you would think they would have. No dissapointment.

And now, I sadly say, the show is over. I look back at volume 1 and see Light in the first page of the book as a normal student. I look into his final pannel, alive, and see him, crying in fear, covered in blook, clutching Ryuk in his last fourty seconds as he tries all he can to stay alive. It is in a time like this that I can see how weak Light really was at heart, yet he was strong on the outside.

I will miss Death Note. The death of this show really saddens me and ends quite possibly the best anime series of all time. Argue if you will, but Death Note was and forever will be, the best anime series ever.

Final Score: 20/10 (Yes, I just did that)

The best of the best comes to a close and ends up being one of the most satisfying endings of anime and manga history.
