CHAPTER 1- NIGHTMARE
As the gang walked back to Kaede’s village, Sango noticed that Kagome had been acting weird through out the journey. She was being far too quiet than normally. She lingered behind them all, walking slowly, and lost in her own thoughts. Sango had had enough, she wanted to know what was wrong with her friend, so she too slowed her pace and put some distance between both girls and the men.
“Kagome, what’s wrong?” murmured Sango, not wanting the men to hear their private conversation.
Kagome, finally brought back from her own little world by Sango’s question, turned to face the girl she had befriended. It took her a while to fully grasp what was being asked, and when she finally did she put on the best smile she could, “huh? It’s nothing, I was just thinking I should really go back home and get some more supplies.”
Sango knew better than that, and could quickly tell that what Kagome had responded had been a lie. But she also knew then to leave her alone, Kagome would tell her what was truly bothering her sooner or later. So the subject was pressed no further.
As Sango quickened her pace to catch up to the other three males, Kagome tried to do the same, but her mind kept on returning to the same thoughts over and over again. For the last few nights she had been having the strangest dreams. She dreamed of the tragic past that Inuyasha and Kikyo had lived 50 years ago, their love for one another which had been ruined by the demon they all sought to destroy; Naraku.
In her dream she saw all her friends die in an attempt to protect her, while she stood idly by, watching their tragic deaths, unable to save them or so as much help them. She also dreamed of a little girl, her face vague and her features unknown, but her almost ghostly presence haunting her even during the day.
She was frightened, she felt that something big was about to happen, but every passing day her Miko powers wavered and slowly slipped away from her.
“Oy, Kagome, hurry up will ya?!” Inuyasha barked back at Kagome.
There was also the whole deal having to do with Inuyasha, Kikyo and herself. Would he ever make up his mind and chose between the two women? ‘Of course he will, He already has…’ Kagome thought sadly to herself.
She slightly shook her head, intending to get rid of those bothersome thoughts. “Coming!”
Minutes Later they had arrived at Kaede’s Village. Kagome was relieved, being in the village allowed them to relax a bit, and it also meant that if she perused Inuyasha enough, he would let her go back to her time for a day or two. Right now what Kagome needed the most was to put her thoughts is order and relieve herself from all the stress she had been feeling lately, not to mention the dreadful presentiment that had been pushing down on her chest. She knew that feeling was linked to her nightmares somehow, but she didn’t want to think about that right now. At least not until she was back home, taking a nice and relaxing bath.

“I’m going home Inuyasha, and that’s final!” argued Kagome as she stuffed all of her things in her yellow backpack. While the rest of the gang, Kaede included, sad around the hearth either resting or eating.
“Why? It’s not like you have one of those tests thing any time soon!” answered a very annoyed Inuyasha. He didn’t understand , why did she insist on going back to her time so often, if she had nothing of importance to do?
“Because, I’m tired! I need to rest, and besides I haven’t gone home for a while, I wanna see my family more than once a moth ya know?!” At this Kagome flung her backpack over her shoulder. “It’s just two days, Inuyasha, I’ll be back soon enough. Besides you guys need to rest too.”
“Feh, fine. But two days and that’s it.” scowled Inuyasha as he exited Kaede’s hut. Kagome watched him expecting him to insult her or scream at her.
Getting fed up at seeing her just staring at him, he looked back at her, “So are you going or what? I don’t have all day you know?” At realizing that he was waiting for her, so he could escort her to the well, she bid farewell to her friends and promised to bring back treats, before joining Inuyasha in the walk to the well.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Inuyasha!” called Kagome as she looked for him, ‘Were is he?‘
Moments ago he had been with them, but he had suddenly left. She neared the Tree of Ages where that very same half demon had been pinned for 50 years.
That was where she had first laid eyes on him, and where their journey had begun. “Inuyasha!!” when the tree came into view, she hurried her pace but abruptly stopped.
There were two figures there and they seemed to be holding a very serious conversation. It was Inuyasha and Kikyo. Kagome quickly hid behind a tree, ‘why are they together?’, she felt sadness overcome her. She knew it was wrong, and knew she shouldn’t, but she couldn’t help herself from intending to listen to their conversation. But she heard nothing.
She peeked her head from behind the tree, to see if they were talking, and they were. Or at least it seemed like they were. Their lips moved, and formed words, but no sound was audible. At least not to Kagome. Losing her balance, Kagome fell and landed hard on her left arm, she quickly got up, prepared to apologize for the intrusion. But they hadn’t noticed her. They were still looking intently at each other.
Kagome approached them, but nothing. They were still engrossed in their own conversation. ‘Cant they see me?’
Kikyo then turned her back on Inuyasha and was about to walk away, when Inuyasha grasped her wrist and pulled her towards him, his arms wrapping around her body, in a tight embrace.
Kagome, stepped back, the pain unenviable, tears gathered in her eyes, but she would not let them fall. This was that way it was supposed to be. She knew that. Inuyasha and Kikyo would always love each other.
But the pain was still there. She loved Inuyasha as well. But he loved another. Didn’t she deserve to be happy as well?
She looked at them again, letting a solitary tear fall. ‘He deserves to be happy. And if it’s with her, then so be it. I want them to be happy…even if I can’t be.’
She knew she had to step aside. They were together now. They should be happy….so why did they look so sad?
She observed a moment longer, and realized they weren’t moving. Not even to breathe. It’s almost as if they were frozen it time. Suddenly an alarming scream interrupted her thoughts, she looked for the source of the scream but found none.
She looked back at Inuyasha and Kikyo, but they did not move. She took a step forward, ready to shake them, why weren’t they moving? But another ear shattering scream pierced through the sky, followed by others.
Without so much as a second thought Kagome ran out of the forest, leaving Inuyasha and Kikyo. She headed towards Kaede’s village, where she was sure was where the screams were emitting from.
The sight that met her was one she had wished many times before, wouldn’t come reality. The village and it’s inhabitants were being attacked by large masses of demons.
She saw as demons ate the raw flesh of some of the villagers, while others taunted them before brutally killing them.
She saw as mothers were ripped away from their children, and were killed in front of them, as the children hid and wept for the death of their family members and for their soon to come deaths.
Sango, Miroku, Kaede, Kirara, and Shippo fought desperately to protect the remaining villagers, and their selves. In the distance she saw Inuyasha and Kikyo, each engaged in their own battle. She saw as both Kikyo and Kaede were struck down.
Kagome made an attempt to move but to no avail. It was almost as if she was spell-ridden, unable to move even a single muscle, Forced to watch as each of them came to their deaths.
Inuyasha sliced demon after demon, and made his way towards Kagome, screaming her name, but she could not hear him.
She silently wept for the death of the villagers, and silently wept as she saw Kirara and Shippo’s defeat. Sango and Miroku desperately tried their best, but were rapidly outnumbered and out powered, and soon after, met their deaths.
Finally, she saw as Inuyasha reached her, he touched her arm, and seemed to be screaming at her. He desperately pulled at her arm, trying to get her to move. But she wouldn’t, she couldn’t.
A demon neared them, Inuyasha fought to protect Kagome, but in the end, he too was outnumbered and out powered. And lost the battle. She saw him fall before her.
She slowly went numb, and felt as the darkness slowly swallowed her, body and soul. She felt it wrap around her body, and she just simply let it.
With tear filled eyes she looked at Inuyasha and her friends one last time, and noticed a little girl, standing in the middle of the battle field. The dead corpses of both Villagers and demons by her feet.
Her Face a blur, unable to make out. She made her way towards Kagome. “Your purpose here, what is it? Is it your destiny to see your comrades fall in battle. To lose all faith and purity, to dwell in the darkness?”, Her voice echoed inside her head, her voice seemed angelic, yet demonic at the same time. It seemed almost enchanting, like a lullaby, luring her to her fate. “or is it much greater than any other being can imagine?”

Kagome awoke with a gasp, cold sweat covering her body. As pieces of her dream retuned to her, she couldn’t help but feel a dreadful sentiment. She could still hear the girls voice.
She looked at her clock, and it read 4:16 A.M. “I wont be able to fall back asleep, now. But it wouldn’t hurt to try.”
She laid back down on her bed, and hesitated for a moment, fearful that she would dream the death of the people she had come to love. Finally gaining an ounce of courage she closed her eyes, and let herself fall into the grasp of the sandman.

Don't worry the length is fine! I don't really hate any of the characters and so far the story itself is great. Especially the suspense.
