japanese is really easy on some ways like memorizing the hiragana and the katakana but kanji? zomg it's so difficult lol.... the grammar is quite hard if english isn't your native language too so... :( so sad... but i also study japanese when i got time. yoroshiku onegaishimasu, mara-san ^^

The best books for learning (In my opinion) are Japanese For Dummies and Hanashimasho! A Beginner's Guide to Japanese. For learning the writing system, I like to use Teach Yourself Beginner's Japanese Script and www.japanese.about.com. I also have a username on www.japanese-online.com, which is Hallie. lol i borrowed how to learn japanese books in the library too^^. i also go to this website www.japanese-online.com i think thats the one. its really good. u guys should try it^^. i dont take special classes because they're too expensive. u should learn it with someone tho. coz when ur alone it gets boring. im learning japanese at the same time teaching my younger sisters. its really fun coz i get to memorize some japanese by teaching them and making quizzes without looking on the book. before japanese, i tried learning mandarin chinese. it was pretty hard so i switched to japanese. im also learning korean but i stopped coz i still havent finished learning japanese. i also read japanese manga too altho i can only read.. not understand=_=.. i can only understand a little.

anzaichavz: I self taught myself Japanese online and through penpals. I also read a LOT of comics in Japanese to help me learn. And I am doing the same with re-learning Welsh. Using online Cymraeg (Welsh) resources and penpals to learn.

I've been teaching myself Different laguages for a long time ;p German, Japanese, Aribic.. just now studing;p All in all by your nearest Library.. take a book home for a couple weeks at a time, redoing & reading those books for a solid year straight!! The hard part for me right now.. IS learning to write in japanese.. Katakana.. & Kanji
