How to make an avatar for TOKYOPOP
There are tons of great avatars on the site already, but sometimes you can’t find exactly what you want. Here I’ll walk you though how to make one and all of the little tricks to make sure it’s the right size and looks good. I’ll be using PhotoShop.
*Always make sure if the image you’re using isn’t one you created to ask permission to use it!*
1) Open your image in PhotoShop.
2) Make sure you set the resolution to 75 dpi, to do this click “Image” then “Image Size”. Where it says “Resolution” type in 75 and then click “ok”.
3) Select the tool “rectangular marquee” and hold shift to select a square over the part of the image you want to be your avatar.
4) Click “Image” and then “Crop”. This will get rid of the rest of the picture.
5) Click “Image” then Image size again and make sure the boxes at the bottom that say “Scale Styles” and “Constrain Proportions” are checked. Then under where it says “Pixel Dimensions” type “100” into the width box, the height box should automatically change to 100 as well. Click “ok”.
6) Click “file” then “save as” name your file and save it as jpeg. When the box comes up set the quality as “6” and click okay.

how do i get that version? I tried photo shop and it was all weird and stuff and It was different. I want that one. it looks cool and i bet you can fix alot of stuff

If you can't afford photoshop or get a hold of it there's a free program that's very similar called GIMP: http://www.gimp.org/

talk about dedication. A post like this would have taken me hours. Great tutorial. Although isn't photoshop way out of the price range of most people here. For those of us not loaded with money gimp is a sweet solution. And its completely free. In a pinch irfanview also works well as a avatar creating platform. better by a long shot than photobucket's editing software.
