Miles away, a young man by the name of Edward Elric sat bolt upright in his thin cot at the Rockbell residence. He had been having a nightmare- for the fourth time that night. Edward thought back to his bad dream before it escaped him, all the while gently scratching his well toned chest. All the gold- haired boy could make out was a dark silhouette against a lightning filled sky and a piercing scream, then all was darkness. He quickly threw the covers off his legs and stood up, yawning. His black pajama bottoms clung to his legs from his tossing an turning through the night. A large bulky shadow in the corner alerted Edward to the fact that his younger brother, Alphonse, was asleep. Ed padded almost inaudibly past his brother and out of the room. On his way to the kitchen to get some water, he passed Winry Rockbell's room. She was facing away from the door, her golden hair spread out gracefully across her pillow. Out the window, Ed could hear a heavy rain pounding against the glass. He slowly stepped into the room and over to Winry's bed. Winry, in a dream of her own, rolled over to face him. He stared down at her, a gentle smile playing at the corners of his mouth. A lock of hair slipped down Winry's cheek and Ed tenderly brushed it back behind her ear. At his touch, Winry stirred and her brow furrowed slightly. She let out a soft cry, "nnn.... Edward.... please don't leave...." Ed froze, a light pink blush spreading over his nose. He smirked a little, then muttered, "don't worry, Winry... I'm not going anywhere..."
