EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION
Are you a sucker for a good shojo story? Is punk rock usually blasting from your iPod? Well, you'll be instantly hooked on Re:Play, the amazing TOKYOPOP debut from manga artist Christy Lijewski. Re:Play is the edgy and engaging tale of Cree, a punk band frontwoman who would give Siouxsie Sioux a run for her money. When she falls for her new bassist, Izsak, neither one of their lives is ever the same. Can their budding bond survive the stalkers and stumbling blocks in their way?
SERIES SYNOPSIS
RE:Play follows the life of Cree, the lead singer for a punk band. When her bassist bails, she's in a tough spot—until she meets Izsak, bass player extraordinaire. He's the answer to all her prayers! But when a pair of mysterious figures begins to—stalk the band, her world quickly spins from a dream to a nightmare. Between a dark past and a shadowy future, can the light of this romance survive?
CREATOR PROFILES
Baltimore native Christy Lijewski is a graduate of Savannah College Art and Design. She was a runner-up winner for her short story, "Doors" in TOKYOPOP's third Rising Stars of Manga. Since then, she's gone on to create the ongoing comic series Next Exit, published by Slave Labor Graphics in late 2004. Re:Play is her first manga for TOKYOPOP.
Christy has an odd fixation on zombies, pirates and cowboys, and if someday she meets a Zombie-Pirate with his own horse, she will be forced to marry him on the spot.
Aside from swash-buckling undead outlaws, she also enjoys sleeping for massive amounts of time, playing RPGs and designing her own clothing. She would put egg on everything she eats if it were deemed socially acceptable and believes katsu-curry to be the greatest dish ever created. She is currently working on a personal webpage, but until then a selection of her gallery can be found at www.nyanko-chan.deviantart.com.
CHARACTER INFORMATION
Cree Winters:
Cree is the daughter of the famous singer Maria Winters, a woman she both detests and idolizes. She blames her less-than-ideal childhood on her mother's absence as she traveled around the globe performing, but at the same time holds the same goal for her life as she desires to make it big with her own band.
Izsak
Izsak is a man without a past and, in his mind, a man without a future. He has no memory of the past and has been living on the streets, playing his guitar to make money to survive. Through a twist of fate, he becomes Cree's new bass player—plus a whole lot more.
Rail Kainer
A childhood friend of Cree's, Rail is the closest thing to family that she has. He's like a protective older brother and a best friend to her. He lives upstairs in the same building as Cree and is both the guitarist and co-founder of their band.
