I went to Defiance, Ohio on a Rotary trip with my school. And at Defiance College we learned about Africa and some of the problems that they are going through. And I never noticed how good we have it here in America. People here skip school because they want to get out. But in Africa, people try to go to school because they are feed and they never know when they are going to eat again.
I never realized how much I depended on my family to be here for me untill I met one of the guest speakers. When he was 7, the British stormed his home land and he got separeted from his family, and to this day he still hasnt seen them. I was on this trip for 3 days and as I was there I though..how could i survive being away from my family for a lifetime? I thought that it would be hard just being away for 3 days...but for a lifetime...? That's someting to think about. I have grown from this trip. I have learned that there is so little time to be with the ones you love because you never know when they are going to be taken away from you. It was hard leaving and comming back to school today because eveyone at this trip grew like a family. There were exchange students from Greec, Italy, France, Spain, Mexico...everywhere.
I will never forget those 3 days. It has changed me. And I want to do everything I can to make this world a better place. We are so lucky to live here. And I have realized that.
