The competition for Rising Stars of Manga 8 has started! What is Rising Stars? Only the coolest and best way to get your foot in the door and take part in the Manga Revolution!
If you have no or little prior publication experience, entering the Rising Stars of Manga (RSoM) competition is the best way to introduce yourself to TOKYOPOP. Your entry will consist of a complete manga short story that is ready for publication. That means you and your team must be able to handle every aspect of manga creation: script, layout, pencils, inks, tones, and lettering.
Many people already know that finalists have the chance to pitch a full-length graphic novel series to the TOKYOPOP editors—we've signed up dozens of previous winners already. What you may not know is that even some of the manga-ka who did not win are currently working on TOKYOPOP projects that will see publication soon. Don't be discouraged if you don't win—enter again and again. Right now, RSoM is a great source for TOKYOPOP to find and hire promising new talent.

uh...do you guys think that most of the winning entries in other manga competition used photo editor?? because...their works looks most likely of a professional... and just seeing those makes me feel that i'm a hundred years behind them.... T_T
Is there anyone out there who knows how to use photoshop? LETS TEAM UP! I'm not gonna lie. I know I can WIN this . But I just need someone else's help with photoshop to make the manga look even MORE professional. so... camthuy.huynh@hotmail.com send me an email if you are interested. ^_-
WAIT! is there a rising stars of manga THIS year too?! so does that mean that it starts in april in every year? or is it every two years, like 2007 then 2009? is there a contest right now, because april has already passed. *confused and mad*

CLE03D, you don't need Photoshop. Many mangaka don't use the digital medium, so I'd assume it's okay to use pen and paper. As long as it looks complete. The staff won't edit it, I think.
ah...guys! just a question... do we still need to edit our manga using photoshop or whatever photo editor it is before submitting it to the contest/competition?? OR the staffs there are the ones who'll gonna edit our works?? co'z I really like to enter a competition with such amazing entry...BUT i don't even know how to use photoshop... XD So puhleeze...guys! a simple answer would be enough!!!

Anoh...guys?? Uh, can you give me some help on how to find some tips or tutorials regarding how to EDIT an own manga?? which includes layouting, toning, shading, inking, scripting or should i say everything that can be seen in a real manga...puhleeeze!!! pretty please...XD
