The little smile that came with the thought was different than the ones that had been in her face for almost eight years now. It made her feel warm inside, a strange sensation that in itself made the smile grew even bigger. She almost wanted to laugh, but didn't. Instead she focused her gaze forward and hoped that he wouldn't see just how silly she looked.

"You look different when you smile", his words made it clear that her hope was in vain. He walked just beside her now, looking right at her in a investigating way that made her feel slightly uncomfortable.

"I smile very often", Rina said. She knew that this wasn't true, now she knew this, but he didn't. She had seen it in his eyes, the truth about her life, but he couldn't have seen it back.

"No you don't, not for real", how did he see it?, the knowledge scared her. This person that she had just met had in the few looks they had shared seen the truth where no one else had before. It was frightening, no one had ever been aware of her feelings like that before. Perhaps that was why she had turned into the one she was now, she didn't know that any more than she yesterday had known what kind of person she was now.

"And who are you to tell me that", the comment came out more harsh than she had wanted them to, but he didn't seem to care. In fact a smile of ironi played on his thin lips.

"Because I can see it in your eyes", the tone of his voice told her that he was playing her, that there was another reason for it that he didn't want to tell her. She wanted to know why, but a small wisper in her head told her that this was one of the questions that she wouldn't get an answer to. Some things would just have to take the time they needed before they came out in the sun.

"What did you do at my school yesterday?", a frown formed on his perfectly straight nose when she asked him again, but to her surprise Rina found that she didn't think that he looked even a little unpleasant even so. She hadn't counted on this, she wasn't suppose to feel like it either. But just as she wasn't at all afraid of him she couldn't make herself think that he was bad looking.

"I had a score to settle", he said in a dry voice, today it didn't really seem that he cared that she knew. This surprised her, almost as much as when he added "and it was justified to you know".

"I saw the guy", she said, the tone of his voice'd had the same hatred as had been in his eyes when he had first looked at her, "did you do that to him?". She wasn't sure that she really wanted to know what he was capable of, after all they where all alone together, but she couldn't help but to ask.

"I could have", he said and shruged, "but I didn't; not this time". Not this time, the words meant that there had been times when he had done it. Most likely when he was kicked out, Rina couldn't imagine that someone would be expelled for less. Her school thought way to much about reputation to kick people out for anything less than a real crime. Long ago they had learned that to let the rich kids play and then cover up whatever damage was done was much easier than to expell everyone that did something wrong, the school wouldn't have any students left if they hade done that.

"What had he done to you?", a stupid question once again, to personal, but also once again she wanted to know the answer badly enough to take the risk.

"Do you really want to know?", there was a challenge in his voice, he was completely sure that she wouldn't have the guts to say yes. But then again, he didn't know her. He just thought that he did.

"Yes", he seemed a little surprised when she said it, but then another emotion came into his face.

"Okay then princess", he said and gave her an amused smile, "let's go". He turned around and started walking back the way they came, without looking ove his shoulder to see if the would follow.

She did, this person had made her feel, and now she would not lose him. Therefore she quickened her steps and caught up with him. She did want to know.
