"Is she", even though the girl was so young there was a tone in it that Rina had only ever before heard in the voice of much more experienced women. The same things could actually go for all of the person that now stood in front of her. The shirt she wore and the top that matched it were both garnment for someone much more grown up. Also the scent of some heavy perfume came over Rina as the little person leaned closer.
"Olivia, aren't you suppose to be in school", Yuji was the one that asked the question, and Rina was a little surprised to hear something that was very close to concern in the guys words. When he looked at the girl that apparently was named Olivia he almost seemed to care about her.
"What if I am?", she turned towards the dark haired guy again and with a few quick steps she had reached him, "what good has that place ever done for me?". There was something disturbing in whet she said, something that Rina all off a sudden realised that she could relate to. The loss of hope, this girl was sure that her place in the school system was gone to never come back. Just the same feeling had haunted Rina for years, before she took the role of queen.
Yuji slowly litfed one hand and put his fingers under Olivias chin. He looked deep inside her eyes, "you know the terms of the agreement, if you don't go to school they'll take you". When the last words came over his lips the girl backed off again, her face pale and her eyes stirring.
"No they can't", she was almost screaming, "they don't have any proof, you will not tell on me will you?!". It wasn't really a question as much as a concern, Rina realised, she was running from something. Social servises, that was the most resonable conclusion. Not that she understood what Yuji had to to with it all, but there seemed tó be some kind of bond between them too.
"Don't be stupid", Yuji didn't look at Olivia anymore, he was focusing all his attention to the cigarette he was lighting. That the girl was affected by this habit, and that she was underaged, didn't seem to bother him at all. But then again, Rine figured, by judging of the way Olivia looked standing leaned against one of the armchairs, this girl had seen a lot worse.
"So what's she doing here?", it was Max that was asking. He had placed himself in the sofa, and was now sitting there slightly laid back and looking carefully at Rina. Again.
"She asked to many questions", Yuji answered and shrugged.
"And you thought bringing her her would do what exactly?", Max seemed amused by something, but didn't appear to want to say it straight. It was the hierarcy again, that stopped him. Something told Rina that it wasn't tolerated to be outspoken about wether Yuji acted correctly or not. The slightly annoyed look in the darkhaired guys face confirmed this.
"He thought that she'd never dare to come this far", Olivia smiled towards Yuji, "or at least that getting here would scare her to silence". For a moment that was just what it was in the room, silence. The slender girl had hit the nail on the head, Rina was sure about it because she had thought the same, but no one was about to admit it.
"You should be in school you know", it was not her place to butt in, but she couldn't help but to do it anyway, "there's still time to fix whatever have gone wrong". She wasn't sure if Olivia was even listening to her, even less if she took it seriously, but she still wanted to say it. Because it was true, because it was sad that this young person had already given up, and mostly because she whished that someone had said it to her that long ago. She would not have listened, but still she would have liked to hear it.
For a few seconds it was still in the room. Olivia looked right at her with her glossy lips half open as if she was about to say something, but she didn't. Max seemed surprised, he had probably counted on her saying something else, something that was more suitable for a rich person, but he didn't comment either.
Yuji didn't move a bit. His gaze was fixed on the brownhaired girl but by the look in his eyes his mind was not there anymore. He seemed to have something important on his mind, something that wasn't at all pleasant to think about.
What's in his past? Rina recognized the look in his face, knew now that it had been in hers a lot of times. It was the look of someone with hard memories, memories of the kind that you try to make go away but newer quite can. The ones that form your life from the very inside of your being even though you might now know it. After all she had not, not until the day before. But she did now, and that was why she knew the signs, that was why she wanted to help them both. The girl should not waste her life, and he should not suffer any more than he'd already done.
"You can fix it you know", she wasn't sure with who she was talking, but it didn't matter. It was meant for them both in a way. Neither of them showed any reaction, but she hadn't counted on them to do that either. They where as well trained as her.
She rose to leave the room, for some reason she was completely sure that no one was going to stop her. And no one did, they all stayed still while she passed them and pushed the door open. Max looked at her just before the door slammed shut, his eyes told her that she had just done something that no one had ever done before.
