I don’t think either of these two PVs are particularly effective in their portrayals of the song. Sure, they’re great eye candy as far as PVs go, but they’re nothing spectacular. JEWEL seems to go for the extravagant side of the song, decking the room with expensive jewels, a stark contrast to some of the spartan moments of the video. However, that does not get the emotion across for me. Perhaps the lives of JEWEL, especially where Ayu has cried, are better renditions of the song, even when Ayu doesn’t hit all the notes. I’d rather see the emotion then this.
“Jewel,” an already emotional, lovely, and delicate pop ballad, is not necessarily made better or worse with the video…Well, it does make the song more sparkly because of all of Ayu’s bling in it. I swear, she’s got more bling in it than any hip-hop video in the US, and that’s saying a lot! It’s great though because it’s a clean, graceful video that’s even a little artsy (the part with her and the big ball gown dress, surrounded by a bunch of dark twigs is pretty artsy).

Ayumi Hamazaki is my fav J-pop singer!!!!! I have 4 of her songs on my ipod so about at least 60 songs of hers! my favorite song of hers is Dearest (original mix) from my favorite anime Inuyasha!!!!!!!

Ayumi is great but i always see the good in jmusic videos, i just love them all! Although they aren't perfect i still only see the good, and i thought this video was great as well.

my god im sorry but do you understand japanese? shes referring the person shes missing as a jewel and she holds this necklace or whatever and at the near end of the song she says " my precious treasure" which holding the necklace close to her face. DURRRR ! so sorry if you didnt see that in the mv or heard the line " my precious treasure" i mean who can hear it when she repeats it twice.

Yeah, I kinda felt that way about her STEP you PV. It...didn't make much sense, but it looked kinda cool. I haven't listened to (or watched) Jewel, yet, though. Might go and do that.
