KAT & MOUSE: The Unused Cover
This illustration was originally going to be the cover for Kat & Mouse Vol. 2, but we decided (fairly late in game, actually) that it just didn't work as a cover. For starters, it was difficult to fit this illustration within the Manga Readers branding without cutting off a good portion of Mouse or having far too much of the art in the background obscurred by the book's logo. Also, I felt the background art was a problem because unless you're an art expert, you probably wouldn't know what any of it was until after you've read the book. It would probably just look very random and incoherent. ("Why is there a dancer standing in front of a huge clock gear?") Anyhow, while I think we made the right decision, Federica put a lot of work into this illustration, and on its own, I think it's a really nice piece of art. Hopefully, we'll be able to find another use for it one of these days.
