VK: Blood Relatives Review
Review of "love Vampire kisses" by KyoLover2010

Bibyechan's Rating: 4 of 5
One of the good things I enjoyed about the novel was the fact of the clear synopsis (which is similarly constructed to those of the actual novels) and, in the character summaries, it even included biographies on Raven and Alexander (why Becky, I've not much of a clue? Jameson deserved one too...)

Well, as the synopsis states, it's a simple, quick-read story about a gothic girl, Raven, and her vampire boyfriend, Alexander, having a hitch in their nighttime romance under the name of Claude Sterling. Simply put, it's engaging, the art's lovely, and it adds a great chapter to the Vampire Kisses Series.

One thing I found a little bothersome was the fact it didn't include other characters that needed to be introduced, like Jameson (who's, for those who haven't read the novels, Alexander's guardian and butler while his parents are out traveling) or her parents (whom prove in the novel that they're also a small hitch; but hey, since when have a teen's parents not been a hitch in their general lives?). Who knows; maybe we'll run into him perhaps? And his lovely new girlfriend, Ruby (Another original novel character).

To the art; okay, I'm a dork who's going into Sequential Art in Savannah, of course I loved the art. Rem did a fantastic job on capturing the characters, both in draft and in finalization. I loved her goth attire considering it didn't look like Raven just waltzed into Hot Topic and picked out everything that looked remotely goth, and Alexander's facial expressions looked ADORABLE. He looks like the type of boyfriend who'd worry over someone so headstrong and curious like Raven. All the characters had personality drawn into them, and that is what I appreciated most.

All in all, the manga stuck well to the basic premise of Vampire Kisses, while still giving itself, like the novels, it's own identity with its own side story and nemesis. However, due to lack of other characters that are necessary into the lives of the leads (Alexander's Jameson and Raven's family), I give this novel a 4/5.

Well, took me about two weeks to look for this little quick read, and I enjoyed it very much.
