I rounded the corner and hid behind a carriage. I poked my head out. The person I was following turned around. I hid my head again hoping I wasn’t seen.Oh man, how did I get myself into this mess...
*A little earlier* “Left-hand alchemist your mission will be to un-noticeably follow one of our solders. Your duty is to watch and report anything you see to me. You must not interfere at all! Your are only there to observe!” Mustang ordered. “But Sir, Why me?” “Because you can quickly trace imaginary transmutations circle with your finger and perform alchemy wherever you want. It’s perfect just in case something dangerous and unexpected comes up.” I watched the solider. He was standing in the middle of the road. Tack! The noise startled the solider and he started running. I chased after him, staying hidden behind cars and other objects. I didn’t make that noise! Did Roy also assign another solider on this mission? Dammit Roy, If you’re going to do that you should tell me. The solider stopped. He panted loudly, trying to catch his breath. Another man came up to him. I couldn’t see him very well but I guessed that he was probably the other solider. “All state alchemists shall die,” The man I could barley see said. Oops wrong guess. I thought as I quickly traced a transmutation circle on the wall with my finger, clapped my hands together and hit them on the wall. A pillar shot out of the ground and hit the shadowy man. I ran over to the solider.
“Are you ok!?” I worried. I could barely see the man but I could tell he was in the fetal position, so I kneeled down to see if he was wounded. I saw that he had no head and there was blood everywhere. I felt my heart jump, my stomach churned out of disgust, and I looked away. I felt frozen in that spot with that image stuck in my head. “Ramen Miso the newest state alchemist... It looks like I’ll get two birds with one stone!” the man murmured. I turned around and saw his hand quickly reaching for my face. I threw myself out of the way and landed on the left side of my body on a puddle of blood. I looked over at the man and he made another attempt this time at my arm. I tried to get up and dodge his attack but I was a little too slow. He grabbed my left arm and a strange red light shone around his hand. A strange tingling feeling went up my arm. I stared at his arm, it had many tattoos on it. I looked up at the man’s face. He had dark skin, blond hair, red eyes, and an “X” shaped scar on his forehead. He also surprised and angry look on his face.
I pulled my still tingling arm out of his grasp and ran for my life. I ran as fast as I could go and as far as I could go. I ran out of breath and stopped. My heart felt like it was racing one hundred miles a minute, I panted loudly and quickly, and My clothes were drenched in blood. I started to cry, and wiped the tears out of my eyes. I looked around to see if the scarred man was still chasing me. He wasn’t. He probably decided I wasn’t worth it...
I headed back to East Central military HQ.
