I can feel it coming on. I can try to stop it like I have before, but in the end it will all come out the same way. She means the world to me, but we mean nothing to the world. So it'll never give us what we want. I guess that stupid demon never thought about something happening like this. They all beat the odds he figured out. They went off track and created paths they wanted instead of what he had. I'm the only one who fail. I guess I'll just have to pay for that for the rest of my life.
Bleu
Bleu opened her eyes to people staring down at her. No, it wasn't her they were staring at; it was Rose that had their attention. Rose was sleeping soundly in Bleu's arms, eyes closed and mouth wide open. The Lace family stared in disbelief at the girl dreaming in their guest room. The woman, man, and teenage boy all stuck out their arms and lightly poked Rose to make sure she was really there.
"Yes, she'd here. We met last night. You may call her father and tell him if you like. Or wait for her to do it herself." Bleu yawned.
The Lace's looked to Bleu like she had suddenly just appeared there. Mrs. Lace smiled down at Bleu, "Oh, he's already on his way. We just came home and saw only your shoes downstairs and were wondering what happened to Pero. Did he decide to give you two space and stay somewhere else? He should know we have other rooms he could stay in. What's that look for, Dear?"
Tears pooled in Bleu's eyes and she had to bite her tongue to hold back the sobs she wanted to let out, "He isn't coming back."
"What do you mean? Don't tell me we have another situation like Rose's!" A confused Mrs. Lace asked.
"He isn't coming back; we don't have to look for him either. He isn't coming back, because he's dead." Bleu said, sucking in a painful breath.
From beside her she felt a heave and heard a cry ring through the air. Bleu turned her head to look at Rose. She had to have been listening to the conversation, because tears fell from her eyes and her face was screwed up in a grimace. Bleu pulled her close and hugged her tightly. The teenage Lace boy named Jacob leaned forward to pat Rose's shoulder in a comforting manner. Rose looked at the boy who had in the short week they'd lived there, taken after Pero. He sobs increased and she let out another wail.
"What did I do?" Jacob asked shrinking back from the girls.
"Nothing, you just sort of look like Pero. You dyed your hair like him and dress like him. And you've paled your skin with make-up. So you sort of remind her of him." Bleu explained, a grim expression haunting her face.
"Why would it matter?" Jacob protested, offended by the situation.
"Jacob, their friend just died. Of course it would make them sad to see a reminder of him so soon after. Go take off that make-up and change your clothes." Mr. Lace commanded, nudging his son towards the door.
"I still don't get it." Jacob folded his arms over his chest and refused to leave.
Rose's sobs stopped and she turned herself to glare at Jacob. Her face was twisted into that of a beast about to rip its prey into pieces. "You want to know why it bothers me? It's because I killed him! I killed Pero! I'm the whole reason why no one will ever see him again! This is always what happens! I'm always the reason he dies! I know how to solve it though Bleu' make all the pain go away!"
The Lace's all back up, "What is she talking about? Always? Can't you only die once?"
Rose wrestled against Bleu's grip, "Let me go! Let me end it! I can make it better!"
"Better for who Rose? It won't be better for me! Every time this happens you just go off without thinking about anyone else! Don't you see? This is supposed to be the time you change the path we're supposed to take! Look at what happened Between Yoshi, Leon, Pero and Zero! They changed their paths!" Bleu shouted shaking Rose.
"Look what happened to all of them! They died anyway! So what's the difference. We're just going to die in the end, so why not just make the suffering shorter!" Rose screamed.
The Lace's had pressed themselves against the wall. They couldn't bring themselves to leave for fear something bad would happen and they wouldn't be able to call the police. Bleu and Rose had forgotten they even existed, caught up in their own cries of the past.
"They died after changing something though! Maybe the next time this all happens we won't die!" Bleu kept her grip tight around Rose's torso.
"Yeah, are you going to tell that to the Colors back home? Would they agree with you about that? I know that at least half of them would want to die sooner rather than later. They don't get a choice remember? If they had it I'm sure they'd rather pick death then life." Rose ripped at Bleu's arms with her nails, shaper than any humans. Blood ran down Bleu's arms, but she wouldn't let her go.
"Don't you love me enough to stay alive with me?" Bleu asked, her grip loosening slightly.
"I love you, but it hurts. I know it hurts you as much as it hurts me. You've always had the luxury of dying while knowing you saved two people! No one else gets to die like that!"
"Zero did. He got to die saving me."
"One person! And his was always before he realized it! You get to think about whether or not to save the people you usually do."
Bleu's arms dropped, defeat plaguing her expression. Rose flew from her arms and before Bleu realized what she'd done, Rose was gone. Bleu heard Mrs. Lace let out a shriek and Bleu turned to stare at her, question in her eyes. Jacob was running for the window across the from the bed where the confused girl still sat. He stared out the broken glass before sinking to the floor next to the wall.
"The fence. If she hadn't landed on the fence." Jacob mumbled.
That woke Bleu up. She screamed and ran to the window. She threw herself over the broken glass to stare at the scene bellow. The glass cut into her stomach, blood steadily beginning to leak down the side of the house.
The body of a girl hung bellow; impaled on an iron fence that surrounded the Lace residence. Bleu reached her arms out and climbed through the window, reaching out for the corpse of the girl she loved. She felt someone grab her from behind and haul her back. The vision of the ground left her sight and what was left was the lifeless, white ceiling. The ceiling void of the blood, death, and sorrow Bleu felt flowing into her heart.
Here's the second to last chapter....because we still have Bleu. Jeeze. I hope to get that up within the next week.
