but does anyone know any sites to buy dandy clothing? like male lolita clothing. and not the depressing stuff like some visual kei...but like....victorian...? XD sorry. XD
I dont know where people get their info but Gothic lolita is a subculture of Japan. There is a word Lolita which means something totally wrong and gross and there is the term Lolita. The Term Lolita is a beautiful term it means that you respect your self as a perfect lady and or gentle man. You can chose to tell the world that it is a Fashion but it's been around since the 1970's It was once called Babydoll fashion but it evolved from there. It then got incorporated with Edwardian, Roccoco, and Victorian styles.
Noooo Novala Takemoto's movie Kamekaze Girls is not a lolita movie if that were true then why is it not focused on being a Gothic Lolita? It's about two girls who live two different lifestyles that need each other. A Yanki and a Loli. Most people tend to over look the other Lolita styles like Punk, Guro, Wa and Qi, Guro, and Classical because everybody watches Shimotsua Monogatari and then bases their ideas of being a selfish loli on trying to be like Momoko.
I for one am a Ama, Kuro, Shiro, and a Punk loli. I like being the differnt lolita that nobody tries to be. If anybody has any questions on basic loli tips just ask being lolita means to be generous to thoes who are trying to learn how to either dress or be lolita!
Dressing lolita does not make a lolita, It starts with what you got on the inside!
I hate to see lolita fashion associated with the Nabokov novel...really, they've nothing to do with each other.
The way I've come to understand the meaning of the Lolita fashion is that Lolita is a word that means "Little Girl" and that was where the name of the fashion came from, but it was purely coincidence that there was also a novel with the same name. The two have nothing in common and true Lolita, even when dressing in Ero Lolita, have a strong sense of modesty and never dress inappropriately in any way. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. XD
So, I've read the novel 'Lolita' by Vladimir Nabokov & I'd just like to add that it isn't pornography at all, despite what SatanGothGirl says. However I do agree that lolita fashion only parallels the plot of the story; in the fact that the clothing is designed to look like that of a child's.
Just wanted to clear that up! ^_^
