"As I was walking on the stair, I met a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh how I wish he'd go away."
"Hughes Mearns."
"That is correct. They were lines written for the play The Psyco-ed, a rather amateur play if you ask me. But they are famous lines none the less." Rex strolls towards the window in his office and brushes the transparent-white curtains out of the way.
"What does that have to do with anything?" Audrey asks in frustration.
Rex smiles and speaks to Audrey without looking away from the window, "Your man sounds like he's not all there. He sounds like a schizophrenic. You say he mutters to himself?"
"Non-stop. I can only catch a few words of it, but it sounds like a nursery rhym or something."
Rex turns around, looking interested. "A rhym you say? What words did you catch?"
Audrey reaches into her coat and picks out her notebook. Flipping to the most recently written on page she begins to read. "Something, something...uh...rain...who is there....as they gain.....his heart.....stain...something..insane.....pain..drowning in the rain..." Audrey look sup and meets Rex's eyes. "It's a bunch of rubbish. See if you can make anything out of it."
Rex returns his gaze to the window without answering and stares back down at the moving traffic bellow. Audrey waits, and then stands up. "What ever. I'm leaving. You can analyze him when ever you like, but he's dangerous. Don't go in without an officer."
Audrey stands up and waits a bit longer and then leaves. He really pisses her off. He thinks he is so high and mighty, a better person than the rest of the world. She walks down the hall to the elevators and pushes the down button at the same moment Rex is closing his office door.
He walks down the hall with his breif case hanging limply from his hand. He doesn't need an officer to escort him in a simple interagation. He turns a corner in the hall and incounters an investegator. He nods and recieves a nod. He's welcome here. No matter how much they hate him, they all respect him and acknowledge him. That's good enough for him.
He reaches the interogation section of the building, a very short hallways with only four room, and quickly finds the room containing Devin. He stands outside of the door and listens. There is a slight, constant, murmer coming from the room. Withut hesitating, Rex eases the door open and enters the room. Devin is a hulk of a man, but any one could tell how little a threat he poses.
