Gather round and i shall tell the tale of  "THE THING THAT REFUSED TO DIE!" ba ba bum....  Twas' on a night, much like this one..( actually it was tonight..)  I was sitting, enjoying my book "The Dead Zone" by Steven King, when suddenly my mother informed me that my beloved dog Sandy had just killed yet another opossum. Seeing as how many other poor, helpless animals have been murdered by my dog,  I simply nodded and went back to reading. A few minutes later however, after my brother had come home and been informed of what she had done, I am then told that it in fact is not dead, and is just horribly mangled. So, my curiousity now peaked, I go out for myself to see just what exactly this "Thing" looks like.

    When I venture outside, I find that it indeed has been mangled, and has now been pummeled with a brick, and beaten a few times with a shovel. As I stand there, staring at this seemingly lifeless thing, it twitches a little and moves its legs. To my horror, my brother then takes the shovel and hits it once more, in an attempt to bludgeon it to death. And still, it twitches. Never having seem anything like this before, am speechless and watch on, suddenly reminded of a train wreck, and how one naturally can not help but to look. M y brother then decides to get a gun and shoot the corpse. My mother says no because it will make too much noise, so he continues with his barrage of blows with the trusty shovel until finally, we can no longer see clearly if it is truly moving or not. All that is left now is to dispose of the body over the fence and into the church yard behind our house. Even then, we fully expect to see it move once more, but decide to just go inside and see what turns up in the morning.

And with that, boys and girls, is the story of " THE THING THAT REFUSED TO DIE"
