memories

Her hair danced in the wind, each strand tangled with the other. While eyes stared vacantly into the distance, seeing something that no one else would see.

She stood there...alone....silent... trying to piece together, the puzzles in her head.

It was   quite except for the distant traffic below.

Why can't she get rid of this awful feeling? Lately her emotions have grown out of control, over powering herself.

The past few days have

Been so abnormal, Nothing, made sense anymore.

What is frustrating is that it has all been so obvious!

Things she missed before seem to stare her right in the face now.

Why hadn't she caught these subtle clues before?

Was it because she's been in a dream-like state all her life?

Not paying any attention to the world around her.

But it feels like  every day life distractions  keep trying to  hold her back, trying to screen what was out there,

 Keeping her ignorant and blissful.

Why was it now that she trying to wake up from this hazy dream and truly see what is out there?

She shook her head to calm these questions.

 They were endless and tiring.

But something was out there; waiting for her.    The wanting to know what burned in her heart, more than ever.

Like a fired furnace.

She was going to find it one day.

But what she didn't know is that it just might be sooner, than she realized.

Holding her only clue was a note; old and yellow with age. It was given to her; it couldn't have been any bigger than an oak leaf.   She fumbles it with her fingers, trying to make sense of it.

...She thought back.

 It starts.     with a dream.

It was darker, than the night, unable to see anything, not even with a hand right in front of her. Only, able to feel the eerie, foggy feeling that crept up her back.

She was a blind man without a guide - arms stretched out before her.

Breathing in the cool air she did, trying to get something from it.  .

But the air gave nothing, no comfort, no fear; it was as clueless as she was.

Walking for what seemed like hours before the darkness gave some mercy,

The blind was lifted of her head, and she could see, once again.

It looked like night time; dark but able to see.

Taking the opportunities to look around, she saw... nothing.

If it wasn't for gravity, there would be no way to tell what was up or down.

She, gape at all of the emptiness; for a second she was unable to react.

Until a small flicker of light caught her eye in the distance.

"I must get to the light" she thought.

Curiously and casually she went to the source of it.

How odd it was a square hole, one large enough for her to fit in it, if she struggled hard enough.

But she didn't climb into it.  Made no effort to move, only placing her hands on the outskirt of the cookie cutter square, and looked in.

Her eyes widened in amazement.

What she saw was none other...than herself.

Only she wasn't alone.

He was... amazing, beautiful, sweet smile, looked too kind for words.

And they both seemed so...happy laughing as they teased one another, lying in the green grass without a care in the world.

It was odd seeing herself with him; it was even odder that she felt jealous.

That is how it was born...

It was none other than the green-eyed monster.

The scene was very heartwarming, oh yes! Young love; is beautiful and is to be treasured always.

But seeing something that she'd wanted, dangled in front of her face. Like a cat craving its toy,

 It was, painful.

What was even worse, it was her better half that had him,

everything that she couldn't be, everything that she wanted; was right there, to taunt her.  "If only, I wasn't who I am," she thought lathering herself in self pity, "If only I could be someone better...maybe... he would be mine."

Oh, these horrible thoughts were just useless.  They only tormented her feelings and were breaking her down.

 She looked again, yearning to see what would happen next   how indifferent she felt about the whole thing.  Standing on the outside hurt and left out wanting to look away,   but  yet at the same time drawned by there sweet smiles and happiness.  It was a sour apple situation;

iresistable, but sour and tangy all the same.

The longer she watched   the more she started to resent them; even he, who she cared about.

                                .

Her other self lay in the grass laughing, completely blissful and unaware of who was watching.

He though happened not to be so ignorant. It was as if he felt her presence; with piercing icy cold blue eyes he stared right back; through the square whole, into her eyes giving her a chill that went down to the pit of her soul. His whole mood changed, from cute and childish person, to a stern and serious man, it was appalling

                                     She jumped back in shock.

Her heart pumped from all the excitement.

The little white square hole faded away back to the way it was.   As if some one turned off an old oil lamp, it eased into nothing.

Defeated and heartbroken, longing for what she wanted most.

It seemed like her destiny had other plans for her.

She sighed in sorrow. If only she could gaze a few more seconds at him;  but would that change anything? No, it would simple make it harder to leave.

She turned away from were the little square hole once was, not that it made a bit of difference every thing around her was the same, but walking through(what was,) it just didn't feel right.

Almost fainting when she suddenly realized she was not alone.

She started to shiver; not from the cold.

The hot breath, breathed on her neck. Making her heart thrash in her chest,

and that was when she was aware of his presence, this aura behind her.

Naturally her instinct started to kick-in; screaming for her to run.

But the shock was to much for her, she froze up.   It was him. She knew it, even without a glance at his face, it was him.  He lightly took his hand and touch her arms with  a few fingers, up and down he gently stroked her  smooth skin, in an arrogant way; the tingling situation made her more uneasy.

He was so much taller than she was.  His whole body loomed over hers. Unexpectedly, he put his arms around her tummy which turned into a warm hug.

It was very surprising at first, but then relaxed into it with a smile. She felt like he needed it more that she did.  Like missing and old friend, it was

sincere.

And just like that it all felt better.  They stayed that way for was seemed like that greatest hour of there life; very comforting it was.

(Suddenly an, in-your, face vengeance shot back to the memory of her other self.)

But hateful thoughts couldn't stay long in this happy place. She had all what she wanted and need, and it was right.

She felt happy.

He moved his head close to her, ear to whisper something.

"Come back to me," He said mournfully, "  Please come back."

Confused she tried to answer.

But the hug tightened, into a" crush your insides" squeeze, loosing all of her breath.

She felt something wet under her feet, icky goop bubbled out of the ground.

The dream was turning into a nightmare.

She was trapped. She couldn't move and he wouldn't let her go. She was scared out of her wits frantic she started to struggle in panic.

But he tightened his grip,

She didn't know if he was squeezing her out of fear of loosing her, or he was helping the, yuck catch her.

The strong arms were easily crushing her, she couldn't breath. He wouldn't move!

The black yuck moved up her torso and goosed onto her face, it was trying to pull her under!

She started to cry, and he, HE, wasn't doing anything, he wasn't helping her.  he just stared into space with a sad face looking down at her, like there was nothing he could do.  She stretched out for help; as she sunk lower into the ground.

All he had to do was reach down and grab her! Why wouldn't he help?!

She felt so betrayed.

It's when the people you love and trust betray you, is when it hurts the most. He was supposed to be there for her.

Protect her. Her heart was cracking.

 How could he do this?

All her thoughts were stopped when she inhaled one last gulp of air, before the last of the group sucked her in its depth.

It was quite different, in this dark solitude.

,    She was cold, and struggled to get a breath of air; she rocked uneasily with yuck moving deeper and deeper into the depth of its sea. She thought of him, his face, imprinted in her mind. Those haunting words repeated in her head "Come back to be" What was this suppose to mean?

He wondered in her mind for a long time, the more she thought of him the angrier she got,

Until she couldn't bare the thought of him any longer.

A light came through the darkness and eased her pain.  It was soft and beautiful, it felt nice and warm. The pressure was lifted off of her.

Everything around her changed. The black yuck that was once crushing her slowly, flew away into thousand a of wicked  black birds; all  frantically flying  to get away from the dazzling light, going  in every kind of direction, you could think of.

It was confusing, all the feathers got in the way,   and she could feel that she was starting to slip.

She fell out of the darkness that was disappearing, into a bright canyon, falling side by side with its fearsome cliffs.

A single white feather though, somehow managed to float down to her eye level. It was different from the other feathers.

"Were did it come from?" she stared in puzzlement

And then she felt His presence.

A cold rush of happiness fled through her body. And even though she knew he was there, it still was shocking to see him.

He gazed into her green eyes, and felt a rush of joy and rage.

The memory of earlier was in the back of her mind.

Falling quietly together, they did, staring into each others eyes side by side each of them not knowing how to react to this closeness. It seemed like hours before she decided to reach out to him.  But before she had a real chance to do any thing he faded away, into a white majestic bird, of were the feather came from.

Maybe it wasn't him after all maybe it was just her eyes letting her see something that she wanted to see. The white bird flew away. Gracefully taking control over the winds and the sky. She on the on the other hand fell heavily down, like a rock.

The cool air rushed past her, her stomach dropped, and the sick feeling that the earth is going to hit any moment was terrifying.

They say before you die you see your whole life flash before you, you wouldn't think it could be possible for a dream.  But it was.

The only thing was, it wasn't hers, she was in them but she didn't recognize any of it.

Memory after memory that didn't belong to her flashed faster and faster as she fell.

IT was all so confusing. The Beautiful bird that flew away wailed, making her frantic and sick.

It was too much she just closed her eyes and wished it would all go away.

Then finally...it did.

And then there was nothing...

End of dream

[Part 2 Comes in later of story]

(I shouldn't put this in but i'm thinking of this as practice)

She was lying on the ground, in a spotlight area, it was the only light.

Stiffly, she lay on her belly, too tired, to move she mustered up some energy only to turn her head,   toward the echoing foot steps to her left.

Some one was coming.

There was a pair of dirty feet in old wooden sandals in front; inches from her. She didn't bother looking up to see who the face of this person belonged to .It didn't matter.

That would have required energy, and she was to tired, sore and felt an odd peace just lying there unprotected.

He reached down and picked her up bridal style.

She didn't resist, she couldn't resist   letting her body flump into his arms, not caring.

She looked through half-opened eye lids she saw a peculiar shiny necklace. Her hand was already beneath it. She slid her hand up to it. feeling it would somehow give her a better sight of it.

Rubbing it between her fingers sleepily gave her comfort, it finally clicked that what she was holding was a key.
