It's been awhile
I apologize to everyone who has been wondering where I vanished to. These past few months have been difficult for me, to say the least. I don't pretend to care that anyone really wants to hear about my problems, so I'll skip out the boring details.

My efforts to see Twilight Chronicles published have been futile. Last month I paid for a professional editor to review my completed manuscript (all 10 chapters) and he made several suggestions such as some plot alterations and name changes for characters under the notion that some of them sound too similiar (ie. Rena and Rebel). He also pointed out some grammar errors I didnt even know existed. I think I know now what I need to do in order to get the story accepted by a respectable publisher, but in all honesty, I don't have the muse to re-write some parts of the story. I want to expand more on the budding romance between Rena and Gestalt, and....right now, I can't write about love. I thought I knew what true love was, but events in my life make it evident that I don't.

Instead, I have been focusing on GKaiser. I'm a realistic person; very few people liked the webcomic, for whatever reason. I put the webcomic on hiatus and put GKaiser on the back-burner in December, but I want to work on the project again. I really do like the idea of a Kamen Rider parody. That most people in the English speaking world don't know what Kamen Rider is doesn't really matter to me; if I'm a good story-teller, you shouldn't need to know what Kamen Rider is to enjoy the story.

I decided to re-launch GKaiser as a live action internet show. 10 minute episodes you can watch on Youtube or something. If I do a good enough job, hey maybe some network will want to put the show on TV. (hey, it happened to Emo Rangers, right?) I purchased a Canon GL2 and secured permission to use music from an indie band called Ninja Academy. I also have permission to begin filming at Texas State University in two weeks. Additionally, some of the students at the tae kwon do school I attend (I take the kickboxing/MMA classes; I studied tae kwon do in high school) are going to perform the fight scene choreography as Butterfly Ninjas.

This project has no budget except what is in my bank account (which aen't much!) and I've never directed anything before. I have no idea what I am doing and I'm excited as hell!

I have some (low quality) pictures of the GKaiser costume on the myspace account. If you liked Power Rangers as a kid (or still do), you might want to keep your eye on the myspace page or the main GKaiser webcomic site. I'll be updating the status of the project as progress is made. I have most of the Dark Shinobi costume finished (I am waiting on the latex lucha mask to arrive) so that will probably be the next thing I upload to the site.

I'm doing all of the special effects myself. I'm not really an expert at CG but I have some powerful software. I have several CG shots completed already.

Stay tuned! I hope to have the finished pilot episode of the live action Deathfist Ninja GKaiser done by August!

With how popular your story is, I'm amazed at the lack of interest in following how the process around it is going. Sorry, I'm Dee. New here. I am a writer, not a published author, so I know how you feel. I don't write toward the anime/manga/cg side of things, but as a rest from writing a fantasy novel, I've been doing some drabble with a Saiunkoku fanfic. But I wanted to say, keep trying. Are you involved in a writing group that works on the same genre as you? Not only for getting most of the grammar, plot holes, and just general housekeeping taken care of, a writing group is a huge support base for a writer during submission/rejection/being accepted phases. Many writers have said this, Stephen King is the most popular. (I'm paraphrasing here) Writing is the easy part. It's cutting out the crap *ie editing* (and I'm editing the choice of words used) that's the hard part. We're all married to our work. They're a part of us. So it's hard to take a piece of that hard work and slash it to tiny bits. As for love... true love is different for every person. Formulaic true love can be written by anyone, and its boring at best. So, if yours is quite and soft and touches the heart gently, that's okay. If it runs rampant and sweeps the reader off their feet, that's just as fine. Only you can define what true love is for your characters. So, don't give up. I'll check on your stories. I don't have time for a little while, but I promise I will. If I see things to comment on, like I would for my writing group, would you like inline comments? I would have to email that to you. Anyway, I've put off facing my story long enough. I can come up with great ideas and advice for others, but the moment I pop up the word document for my story, my brain shuts down... stupid writer's block. (~.^)P Keep fighting. Good luck on the short films. Dee
