It's been over 8 months since my fathers accident, but the most amazing thing happened today. He was finally able to wear normal clothes. Not only that, but for the first time he was able to leave the unit. We, my mom and I, strolled out in a lazy chair and pushed him to midnight mass in the hospital. I was so happy I almost cryed, but I don't cry so I didn't.
Anyway, we walked down the halls, up the elevator, and entered the chapel. In the chapel, Father Standerd was already humming away with his powerful deep voice. The mass was like any other, except for the first time all of us, mother and father and son, were in church. Granted we're "christians", but we were never that religious.
Even so, we all bowed our heads and prayed. Prayed for my dad to heal and come home soon. Prayed for all the injured in the Unit. Prayed for those pre-mature infants clinging to life. I pray that those unfortunate families that are spending their holidays in a hospital room can find a single moment of relief and happiness. I wish you all good health and a happy holidays.
