Narrative # 3 What it means to LIVE

Life is hard.  Who agrees with me?  hahaha, well obviously I know what you're gonna say before you say it.  Life IS hard and if it doesn't seem to give you trouble than maybe you better think it over about yourself.  If life isn't hard than you gotta ask yourself if your actually living.  Well of course you are living, but by living I meant, trully ALIVE.  Alive like you feel the vibrancy of youth in your veins every day of your life and no rain of sorrow can wash it away.  If you truly feel that you have everything you ever wanted in life then first off, I know your lying, and secondly stop daydreaming and listen to me.  I'm gonna tell you what it means to be living a life that isn't.

Did you ever have one of those lazy weekends or summer days when you woke up in the morning and kept reminding yourself of what a wonderful time you'll have on that day.  You keep thinking how great it is that their is no school today and you've either finished or don't have homework to do for the entire day.  So you sit around and enjoy yourself.  Enjoy yourself, until you slowly grow bored with nothing to do.  All your friends are busy and you don't feel like doing anything.  You pick up a book to read but then set it down because you are to bored to start it.  You turn on your computer but the internet is cut off so immediately thats not an option, and you look around your room for something to tinker with but there is nothing.

It feels like everything should be fine.  It feels like everything is supposed to be fun today, but somehow it isn't.  Somehow your free time is wasted away as you vegetate on the couch, watching reruns of a show you don't even like.

This is what its like to not be "living"

except for one thing.

its a hundred times worse.

When your not really living, you feel that everything should be right, but it isn't.  And it just kills you because normally when somethings not right you know it, and so you fix it and hooray your life is back on track.  But when you don't have a goal in life.  If you don't know why your alive and if you don't have confidence in yourself and your actions then life suddenly becomes a drag and everyday living becomes a harsh reality.  It becomes a life that isn't really alive.  Your not "living".

Nothing you do fixes the problem you have because you don't know what to do to fix it.  So the entire day becomes a long dragged out day that you don't want to live through.  So you wait and wait for the day to end because although you don't know what to do, you do know that at some point you'll need to sleep when it gets late enough.

And when that happens.  When you start to feel that you live everyday, only to wait for night to fall and for the next day to arise, then your living only for the purpose to keep living.  And that in itself is not life.  You are using circular logic to justify your own existance.  You can't confidently prove to yourself that your alive for a good reason by saying you live only to keep living for another day.  Even if you live for the next day then what?  Big woop, billions of people just did the same thing, are you gonna congratulate them for it?  There is no meaning to just living for the next day, unless the day itself has a meaning without the next day.

and thats where I say, live everyday as if it were your last day.  Not that I want you to suddenly panic and start stealing from stores on your last day of your life, but I want you to live as if every moment was precious.  Taking life for granted is a huge step to failure.  Everyone does it, and it doesn't make you horrible if you do, but if you do, and yes you will, you will find yourself lamenting over something small and so insignificant, and all because you took life for granted.  When you realize the importance of all existance, especially yours, you begin to see that everything is just simply amazing.

I felt like this at times. Then I started to read a book on eastern philoshophy(Taoism, Buddhism). It said the same things and now I try to cherish every breath I inhale. (I can tell you this is hard) I really like how you ended the narrative. Its very exsistentialist.
