the pursuit of happiness
is the search for a silhouette
of a man, paper thin
you look for the solution
but this journey to find your soul
makes you lose your way
your heart hardens
your mind is disillusioned
the things that mattered
no longer find their way
into your compassion
there is a hole in your heart
that was cut out
chiseled into hatred
this stone piece of you
is no longer part of you
in time
darkness enters this hole
hiding there
festering the old wounds
opening scabs
letting you bleed
you find your vision dimming
but you refuse to let your heart
be whole again
so you keep bleeding
and keep stumbling
as you lose your strength
your will to survive
and perhaps
just maybe you realize
and come to your senses
but it is too late
you succumb
to this fatal stubborness
your eyes roll back
your body falls down
cold crimson chills your back
as your head hits the ground

i know what this is. only because when my best friends mother got cancer...right after her divorce (husband had been cheating) she lost the will to live. she withered away.... i loved her like a second mother. to Natalie- rest in peace, we all love you, miss you, and wish you well
