Chapter one: Discovery at the Theater.
‘Why didn’t I listen?!’ Ito thought with a frustrated growl as she considered the horrible situation she was in. Twenty minuets. That was it. She had twenty minuets before the movie was over. Ito glared at the seat in front of her own. What if she missed a really good part? She decided it didn’t really matter when one is about to piss oneself in the theater. She gently nudged the person next to her with an elbow. “bathroom.” She whispered to him as she climbed out of her seat and into the walkway.
Once she was out of the room, Ito turned her head around trying to locate the nearest bathroom. As she spotted it, she quickly made a dash for the door, not wanting to miss anything exciting, and there was also the fact that she had been holding it in for the past hour. “Stupid bladder…” Ito continued to mumble to herself as she entered one of the stalls.
As soon as she finished drying her hands, she speedily made a rush for the exit… and slammed straight into someone doing so.
“I’m so sorry!” She said as she turned to see who she had run into. Ito froze with shock. “Makoto?”
He was dressed like a man! Ito blushed lightly as he took her by the hand and pulled her up. “What if somebody sees you?”
He smirked, but it quickly vanished when he remembered why he was there. “Who are you here with, Ito-san?” He asked.
Ito cringed a bit. So he was going straight for it. Great.
“Toki-sempai and a couple of his friends—” She stopped when his stare hardened. “What?”
Makoto sighed as he grabbed her wrist gently and brought her over to a nearby bench. “I thought you were smarter then that.” He stated dryly as he shut his eyes.
Ito’s eyes widened slightly. Sure, she knew why he had said it, but that didn’t mean it didn’t hurt. “It’s not that big a deal, Mako. We were just watching a movie.” She stopped until he opened his eyes. “Besides, he said it was a gift. You know, for all that stuff he did. He has another girlfriend now anyway.”
“Then I’ll come in with you.” He said. It wasn’t even a question.
“You can’t! You don’t have a ticket.”
“Yes, I do.” He waved it slightly in front of her face.
Why would he waist his money for a ticket when the movie was already almost over? “But… there are no more seats next to where we’re sitting; you would have to sit all the way in front.”
“I could find a way.” He answered stubbornly.
She looked down at his wardrobe. “But what if someone we know sees you!”
Makoto frowned deeper. His mouth opened up for a second, then shut again as he let go of her wrist. “Fine.” He replied, making his way up to his feet.
Before Ito could catch his arm, he slipped away. “Mako!” She called out, wondering what she had said that had made him act like he did.
He didn’t turn back for a moment, and then faced her with a smile. A smile she knew meant nothing. “I said it’s fine, Ito-san. I’ll see you at school tomorrow.” And he was gone.
“Hey, Ikko!”
Wide eyed, Ito turned back to find Toki and his three friends walking towards her.
“What took you so long?” He asked as he came up to her, ruffling her hair a bit with a large hand. “You missed the end of the movie!”
“It was really great!” One of the others piped in, nudging his buddy in the side. “You remember that one part where…” His voice trailed off as he continued walking with the other two.
“So, what were you doin’?” He asked again.
Ito blushed slightly—she seemed to do that a lot lately. “I… It just took me longer to find the bathroom than I expected, that’s all.” She lied, ducking out from under his hand. As she turned to leave, he caught her shoulder, pulling her back to face him, and from her point of view he was much to close for her comfort.
His face suddenly became stiff. His eyes lowered. “Don’t lie to me, Ito-san.” He drug out the last part.
Had he ever called her that before? No, the only people who called her that were her family… and Makoto. Her eyes widened.
Toki smirked. “The movie ended earlier then we expected, and when I came over to find you, you weren’t alone.”
Ito could slightly feel heat rush to her cheeks. Where was he going with this?
“And guess what? I heard a name that was pretty familiar.” His face hardened again. “I always knew Makoto and the one guy looked alike, but I never really considered them being the same person.”
Ito tried to pull away, but he kept his hand firm. What was she going to do, he knew about Makoto!
“What are you talking about? That was just a friend from… um…” Ito struggled.
“See? You can’t lie, Ikko, it doesn’t suit you.” He removed his hand and placed it back at his side. “I know what I did to you was wrong, but now all I want from you is a strong friendship. I just want to know what’s going on; don’t you think I deserve that much?” He looked absolutely serious and genuine.
Ito frowned for a moment. Could she really tell him? She should ask Makoto first. But what if Toki insisted that she tell him now? What was she to do?
She looked around at the people surrounding the two of them. “Do you think we could go somewhere more private?” She asked.
“Of course.” Toki replied, nodding off to the exit. As she turned her back to him, he smirked.
He really did have to do something about her, she was way to trusting.
