Chi has developed quite a bit since Hideki found her lying in the garbage one fateful morning. She's learned to speak, to work in a pastry shop, to go shopping ... and, so it would seem, to love. After much soul searching (if a persocom could be said to have a soul) Chi comes to the realization that her feelings towards Hideki, her 'someone just for her,' are indeed nothing short of love. Only two obstacles stand between her and happiness. First there's Hideki; he's been struggling with the idea that a person can have feelings for a machine. Can he return her love? Second is the mysterios duo ... Zima and Dita. Having run out of patience, they're quickly closing in to deactivate Chi before her strong emotions pose a threat to persocoms everywhere. This special edition volume comes with a collector's box to hold all 8 volumes of the mega-hit series. It also includes a bonus figurine of Chi available nowhere else. Celebrate the conclusion of America's most popular manga in style!

Hideki
19-year-old Hideki goes to cram school and works part-time at Club Pleasure while he studies to get into college. He desperately wants a 'persocom' but can't afford one, so when he finds Chi in the garbage, it's a dream come true. He doesn't know much about computers, so he relies on his friends Shimbo and Minoru to help him learn about Chi. People are always telling him he's a nice guy, but as Minoru points out, at the end of the day, Hideki's the guy who goes home without a date.

Chi
Hideki finds this adorable 'persocom,' or humanoid computer, tied up in a pile of trash, so he takes her home to fix her up. She acts like a child, learning through imitation, but as Hideki searches for the truth behind her past, he finds that she might be much more sophisticated than her childlike behavior lets on. Could she be a 'Chobit,' one of the Artificial Intelligences whose existence is rumored on the internet?

Dark Chi
When Chi closes her eyes, this alter-ego speaks to her. The Dark Chi seems to know a lot more about Chi's past than Chi herself.

Takako Shimizu
Ms. Shimizu teaches at Hideki's cram school, although she really wants to teach elementary school (hence her tendency to treat her students like young children). After her husband becomes obsessed with his persocom, she's forced to look elsewhere for companionship ...

Shimbo Hiroshi
Shimbo is Hideki's classmate and best friend. A technophile, Shimbo is attached to his adorable 'laptop' persocom, Plum. He's also rather attached to his teacher, Ms. Shimizu.

Plum
Shimbo's laptop persocom, Plum functions as personal planner, alarm clock, fitness instructor, and entertainer. She's rather frightened by Hideki, who has a tendency to overreact in front of her. (Japanese Name: Sumomo, meaning plum.)

Chitose Hibiya
Hideki's attractive and generous landlady. She gives Chi a lot of clothes which fit her perfectly, and befriends the persocom instantly. It's almost as if she knew Chi before ...

Minoru Kokubunji
A filthy rich Junior High school kid who's one of the world's leading authorities on persocoms. He helps Hideki uncover Chi's past but warns him not to fall in love with a persocom. Could this melancholy kid be speaking from experience?

Yuzuki
The most advanced persocom Minoru has built, she is programmed with the behavior patterns of his late sister. Yuzuki watches over him like a sister, but as she's not truly sentient, she can never grow beyond her programming, unlike Chi.

Yumi Oumura
A cute and buxom waitress at Hideki's work. She shows great concern for Hideki, but he seems unable to make the next move with her. Yumi gets depressed whenever persocoms are mentioned. Perhaps something happened in her past ...

Hiroyasu Ueda
The manager of the Chiroru Bakery where Hideki first works after moving to the city. Ueda-san gives Chi a job handing out pastries at his shop.

Zima and Dita
This shady pair is on Chi's trail. Their intentions aren't clear, but they don't seem to have any love for the persocom.

Kotoko
Big things come in small packages. That's what this desktop girl in a notebook body always thought. But when her master takes an interest in the enigmatic Chi, little Kotoko gets more than a little jealous of the competition. Despite their differences, Kotoko still looks out for Chi, even if her advice is tinged with sarcasm.

What is 'CLAMP'?

CLAMP is the four-woman manga studio that creates the world's most popular manga. For the past 15 years they have worked non-stop, creating everything from the adorable shojo (girls comic) hit Cardcaptor Sakura, to the dark and brooding Tokyo Babylon, to the sci-fi romantic comedy Chobits. Currently they are working on four series: Legal Drug, X, Tsubasa: Resevoir Chronicle and xxxHolic. The group also has a close relationship with anime studio Madhouse, which has adapted most of CLAMP's manga into equally successful anime.

2004 marks the team's 15th anniversary, and to celebrate they are working on a retrospective collection called CLAMP no Kiseki, available from TOKYOPOP in 2005.
