Hey guy’s I found what Svetlana Chamakova (the creator of Dramacon) been up too. She’s doing a manga called night school for Yen plus. Yen Plus is a manga mag from Yen Press like Shonen jump but for some reason it has some manga done one way and some manga done the other. It’s aimed at older teens and theirs a mix of everything from comedy to action to romance. Plus yen press as a company are bringing out the manga of Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

There's no denying that I was a skeptic when my friend Edith first walked up to me in school, said, "Hey, did you know? About Dramacon," and began to rant about how funny, romantic, and adorable the series is. When I first picked up the book, I could tell, as a hard-core manga and anime fan, that this wouldn't be the average manga experience. First of all, the book was not the traditional Japanese right-to-left style reading. The artwork wasn't particularly beautiful, and it had a slight chibi-overuse problem. However, I quickly fell in love with everything about the books, from the pushover main character, to her snotty boyfriend who flirts with everything that moves, to the mysterious sarcastic stranger with the sunglasses. I adore the witty dialogue, and how much everything absolutely DRIPS with the word 'Otaku.' So! You have my praise, as a skeptical, hardcore, manga fan: you're the first non-Asian manga I've enjoyed in years. BRAVO!

love it sucks not a vip

I love this manga. It helps me get my manga-drama fix without getting overdosed on really girly/sappy storylines The characters are awesome and the humor is great. The artwork is gorgeous too! I have to admit I was a little skeptical at first when I heard about it. But after reading the online previews and I had to run out and buy the first volume (and then the second). I just wish the bookstores around me had the third volume... I know that I'll be very sad when I finish the third one though.

Dramacon was recomended to me by some friends, And i ended up reading 3 of the books and forgetting all about sleeping xD!, Will have to say great job, It was amazing all the way through and i have to admit i laughed so hard that i think my parents thought i was having a fit xD, Love how dramacon switches from comedy to romance or from happyness to sadness, yet still being incredibly good, I also love how the art is presented and how the story is shown. ^^, Thanks for unleashing Dramacon ill be sure to check out some more of your work ^^

User Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Set at a comic convention, this story shouldn't be as entertaining and fun as it is. But it's a little gem: the plot trips along, and though the art is good, not breathtaking, the Russian-born Canadian artist/author has clearly mastered the now international visual language of manga. The heroine is Chris, a self-willed girl who is taken for granted by her boyfriend, Derek. Chris meets the dark and mysterious Matt, who seems to understand her completely, and hijinks ensue. Sounds corny as hell, but the narrative is smart, witty and moving. The characters tap into the manga archetypes, which makes them breathe and have moments of being larger-than-life. Chris goes through self-doubt to self-knowledge and learns a bit of bravery along the way. It's astonishing to reflect that all the action takes place in the hotel rooms and convention floors where kids sell their homemade comics. Under the noses of adults, these &q
