Chidori Kaname spends her summer vacation doing odd jobs for the student council. Out of the blue, Sousuke Sagara, the world's biggest war nut, invites Kaname to go with him to an island in the Pacific. Kaname is really excited--until she finds out Sousuke isn't planning a relaxing tour of nature, but a high-speed adventure full of thrills, chills, and danger! For example: A scarlet-colored steel demon named Venom attacks a chemical weapons facility, which falls down around Sousuke and Kaname! They discover an enormous conspiracy behind the terrorist attack! And a brutal murderer is now closing in on them! The latest novel in this mega-popular series is here at last!
Shouji Gatou has crafted a popular novel series packed with loads of hilarious pop culture references, including limericks, puns, and even jokes about Monty Python! Shouji Gatou met with Koichi Chigira by accident when he bumped into him in Shinjuku when he was late for work. Later on, the two were shocked to meet with one another in the GONZO Digimation office. The two later teamed up to create the Full Metal Panic anime series.

All-in-all, I loved it. A great continuation, really. There were several translation errors, however, which could have easily been avoided. TP needs to hire some better editors, really. Last time I checked, Arm Slaves are NOT 86 feet tall, nor is "dumstruck" a word. I understand that the translation process can be difficult, but a simple fact-check and dictionary could have prevented these errors.

The series is about 20 books in length, but half of them are side-story books. The current story has 10 books in length, and 4 & 5 represent The Second Raid. If anything, I am waiting (im)patiently for book six, which is the first book beyond what the anime has shown.

I'm excited about this, but I'm also very, very scared about whether or not we'll see any more of the novels after this, especially now that the Chibi Vampire novels have been dropped. Please, please, please don't let Tokyopop drop these novels. >_< I'm kind of reluctant to buy the third unless we find out if we'll get the rest of the novels.

Finally! I've been wanting to collect these for so long! 18 volumes?!!! I had no idea the story was that long! I thought it was only around 10!
