I had no choice to back out now; I was already here in this strange world so I had to follow Avelen. It seemed that she new where she was going; maybe she had been here before.
We came in front of the tall arched black steel gate. Avelen told me to wait here while she spoke to the guards. I couldn’t quite hear what they where saying but I had a pretty good feeling they where talking about me. I was one of the muscular looking guards acted surprised and shook he’s head. I whished I could leap read then. I wondered if they could see Trevino’s golden horn and giant golden wings just like me and Avelen could see them. The appeared to look like humans but when one of them turned around I was a bull’s tail sticking out and then I new instantly knew they weren’t human. What the hell are they!? I thought to my self silently. If fairies, angels and these guys who I didn’t know what they where, excited, if leprechauns, elves, trolls, fire breathing dragons, perhaps maybe Santa clause really existed as well! When Mark was little he told me that he believed that pigs could fly. In this world I wondered if they really DID fly. So now, when I go back home( if I go back home) I would tell him that flying pigs really did exists
In the distance I saw Avelen look down at the ground and then she started to walk over with a sad look in her eye and stopped on front of me.
“What’s the matter? Aren’t they letting us in?” There was a short pause of silence not even the crickets where singing anymore. Then she spoke to me in a soft voice.
“They don’t believe that you’re the new Leon. They just said I was joking and told me to leave instantly. I don’t think they even believe that you’re human, they just said it was a prank and go take your friends morphing skills some where else. I tried to convince them that you where human but they just laughed.” Avelen looked down at the ground again.
“Well maybe there’s a back way in? Anyway why wouldn’t they believe that I was human? Let me tell you, you can’t much more human then this!” Avelen new I was being sarcastic.
“No. There’s only one way into the lords castle and that’s through the front gate, they would shoot us down with spheres and arrow’s if we ever tried to fly in on Trevino.” Now Avelen had an even more worried look on her face. It almost seemed like she was about to cry. I tried to think of something to cheer her up but nothing came to my mind. Nothing. Not one little funny statement. But then I got an idea.
“What did this “Leon” guy your always talking about look like?” Avelen looked at me with a confused look in her eyes.
“Why do you want to know what he looked like now for?”
“Well if we find the right materials for the job I’m sure we can get in if my plan works. Oh and another thing. Is there any reincarnation spells in this world?”
“Fortunately there is but that spell has been banned for millions of years and no one has ever used it since the banning.”
“The banning? Why that was that spell banded for?” I asked perhaps some one used it wrongly I thought.
“The reincarnation spell was used for the wrong reason and there plan would’ve worked but one little mistake was made and all most whipped out our entire world.” Avelen said as we started to walk away from the castle.
“Hmm, I see then, the spell was used for evil I suppose so the higher-ups thought it was too dangerous to use anymore so they cast away the spell for ever. That proves it then! We’re definitely going to enter that castle.”
“What makes you so sure?”
I explained to Avelen my plan as we where walking down the road that led to the hills away from the castle. Avelen was walking Trevino with the rains so she didn’t get frightened of something and run away. It had to be something pretty big to scare Trevino though; she was pretty good with moving objects that she wasn’t aware of. I guessed she was a very brave horse, I mean Pegasus.
We came to a small hut with a small flowerbed at the front of the house. It had two windows either side of the front door with frilly white curtains with pale faded flowers on it. There was a waist high old brick fence around it. It didn’t seem like it was a big yard, it only had a couple of small tress and bushes at the gate entrance which was a wooden door leading to the front of the house. I suppose you wouldn’t call it a hut or a house. It was like two building had become one and merged together. Avelen tied Trevino to an old tall tree stump to the side of the house and held her hands over the tree stump. Suddenly I saw a red apple appear out of now where. That was magic for you, after seeing what Avelen was capable of I was starting to feel little jealous of her. She told me when we first met that I had incredible magic all pilled up in side of me just like a small kitten all curled up in it’s bed staying perfectly still as it was sleeping at night waiting for the sun to rise in the morning so it could spring to back to life all full of energy, ready to play again and make new discoveries.
Avelen walked towards the front door of the small hut and I followed behind her.
She stopped and knocked on the old wooden door. There was dead silence for a few moments and Avelen tried again. This time there was no answer so the third time Avelen knocked as hard as she could on the door and yelled” HELLO!? IS ANYBODY THERE!? IT’S ME AVELEN! I’VE COME HOME WITH SOME HELP! COULD YOU PLEASE OPPEN THE DOOR FOR US!? Mum!! DAD!! ARE YOU HOME!?”
Wait a minute. She didn’t just call out for her mum or dad did she? If I heard her correctly then that would mean that this is where Avelen lived! I never thought that fairies lived in small huts in big open grass plains; I always thought they would live in a tree house in an enchanted forest or something like that. This news was a surprise to me. Avelen walked around the back of the house with me tagging along behind. I didn’t want to leave her sight in a world unknown for me. Who knows what would’ve happened to me if I was left standing in front of a house all alone, especially if I was the only human in this world for all I know some giant weird looking monster could come out of no where and attack me and have me for lunch!
As I was walking with Avelen down the main path I noticed it was extremely quite and there absolutely no body in sight. I wondered if every one new about the seal breaking on the Hell King and fled town to a safe place, that would mean that Avelen’s parents would’ve gone with the other villagers as well to be safe.
Avelen peered through a window at the back of the house. You could pretty much see the whole entire inside of the house except there was an entrance to a small hallway that lead somewhere, I didn’t know where it went, the back window had the same curtains and decorations on it as the front on and was blocking my view of the end of the hallway. I tried to picture what the hallway might lead to. The first thing that came in mind was a bedroom with a built in cupboards with wooden doors. Avelen walked all the way around the perimeter of the house but no one seemed to be home. Avelen sighed deeply tilting her head a little and suggested that they must have gone out fir a while. I didn’t want to suggest that every one had evacuated the village because I didn’t want her to get upset then what she already was.
“I’m sure they won’t mind if we popped in for a spell and borrow some materials any way.” Avelen suggested to me.
“But how are we going to get in? all the windows and doors are locked and shut tight.”
“ can you say……… “un colana” after you put your left hand slightly above the door handle?” Avelen pointed her hand over the door handle. UN-COLANA? I wonder what kind of a word that was that? Was she being sarcastic and just wanted to make a fool out of me? I asked her why and she just simply said that if I did what I was told to I would find out. I could tell she us up to something. I could tell what though. I knew she was up to something because I could see the
Big happy grin on her face. I did what she told me to do with out another minute of hesitation.
“ un colana!” I said quietly with my hand over the chocolate dark brown door knob. There was a soft blue light coming from my hand, this startled me for a moment but then realized that this must have been the magic that Avelen said that was all pilled up inside me. I heard a few clicks and clack and then I saw the Knob magically unlock itself and opened up a little. The door made a small squeaking sound like a rat trying to ask for help to help it find it’s missing cheese.
“Well then? Why don’t you move your hand a little more forward?” Avelen suddenly asked my.
“Huh? You want me to move my hand forward?” I repeated the question once more to make sure I understood what she was saying.
“Yes that’s right, just move your hand forward just like you would as is you where opening a door normally only, just move it little more slower then usual.” Avelen warned me. I slowed down my normal speed to about half of what I would normally use to open a door and as I moved forward, so did the old wooden door. I was shocked a little. Wow! I actually used magic! This was my first magic trick I learned and Avelen said it came in handy in time of trouble. I said to her that I would never, ever forget my first spell.
I made the door wide open so we could go inside. Avelen went in first and I followed soon after, only I couldn’t. Something was holding me back by my hand, I turned around and no one was there in my sight. I tried moving again but I couldn’t walk any further then where I was standing. I called out to Avelen and she said to say the word again but add a “reverse” at the start of it. I said “reveres un colana” and the magic light blue light vanished into thin air with out a trace of its presents left. I was able to move forward again. The spell must have had a side effect on me because normally that wouldn’t happen, getting my hand stuck on the door knob with an unlocking spell. Maybe it’s because I was human and some magic creature that this happened to me.
I had learned my first magic spell and that I was very proud of it. I walked into the house and walked past a window with no curtains on it. Avelen had disappeared into one of the hallways to find stuff to use for my plan. I put my hand over the window leaver and tried my first spell again. I wondered if it would work a second time and to my surprise it worked again. I opened up the window with out touching it to let some fresh air into the house. I un did the spell and looked out side the window only to see a beautiful scenery with the neighbor’s houses next door just a few meters down the track, some beautiful trees and gigantic mountain tops in the background. It was all topped off with a beautiful crystal clear day with only a few light fluffy clouds passing by with out a care in the world.
I didn’t see the castle any where in sight so I figured if I looked out a window on the other side of the house, I would definitely see the enormous castle looking down on you. Some how at that very moment, I had convinced my self that this world wasn’t all as bad as I thought it would be. I took a deep breath and got a whiff of a fresh breeze of wind gently passing by.
CHAPTER 4
I looked out the window and this time a more stronger breeze passed by. I gazed out at the open rode that led to the center of the village. I saw a strange dark cloud pass by. I didn’t take much notice of it at first but then tall dark figures where marching in rows of maybe four or five where heading straight towards the house. That’s when I saw Trevino race straight pass the window I was looking at. The wind from Trevino rushing pass me woke me up and got me back from my day dreaming. I noticed the figures coming to wards us and called out to Avelen. Avelen came running to the window and immediately locked it tight. She slammed the front door and sealed it up with some kind of spell binding spell. I Avelen grabbed me by the wrist ad told me to sit by the back wall underneath the back window. Avelen went and stood in the middle of the room and raised her arms in the air.
I read her say “protection” and a blue light came from her covering the hole house. Then I heard a loud bang on the door and a loud strong voice called to open up the door and let them in. Avelen didn’t budge though. She just stood perfectly still with out moving or backing down with the shinning blue light still coming from her. There was a loud bang on the door but this time on the windows as well. I could see behind me, out side the back window a tall muscular figure was standing right there. I started to panic. What would happen if he broke in?
“Don’t worry Leon! Don’t move from that spot! They can’t see us in side this barrier if we don’t move around to quickly!” Avelen turned around and warned me.
I could see her arms starting to shake a little and I was starting to worry more. The loud voice gave us a warning. If we didn’t open the door they would force there way in. There was another loud bang from behind me. That’s it! I can’t just sit by anymore and watch this happen! I summoned up all my courage and stood up slowly. I made sure the beast wouldn’t see me get up and so I crouched over slowly and started moving slowly towards Avelen. Avelen noticed this and told me to sit back down but I refused to listen to her.
I got to where Avelen was standing and stood behind her. I raised my arms and put my hand on top of hers, “Protection” I said in a soft calm voice. Avelen didn’t get where I was going at. She kindly asked me again to sit back down and let her handle this. But I said to that I wouldn’t let her do it alone. All of a sudden there was this flash of bright red light and shot out of my hands and surrounded the house. Suddenly there was less banging as there was before. I looked behind at the back window and noticed the strange beast had disappeared. I saw the sky turn dark as night and then I saw tiny sparks of flame spitting out side the window. Was it possible that they had started a fire around us. I heard a horn play a short tune and then there was the sound of marching feet and hooves fade away in to the distance. Did they give up and surrendered because the barrier was to strong for them to pass through. That didn’t really worry me because we had an even bigger problem. The fire they started outside around us was spreading wildly and out of control.
Avelen was starting to get weaker as time passed by I told her that I could handle this and it was ok for her to let go but Avelen didn’t listen and kept holding on. She told me that my magical powers weren’t stable and the barrier could collapse any minute. I was worried about Trevino as well and wondered where she ran off to. Then I saw this bright shining light in the distance in amongst the dark and gloomy smoke clouds from the fire. I wondered if it was Trevino coming back for us. But then all of a sudden with out warning the wild out of control fire stopped burning and I saw the wild flames die down and shrink to the ground. There was a soft nock on the door and a smooth but manly voice called out to see if we where all right. The un familiar voice told us it was safe to come out now. Avelen dropped her arms down quickly and fell lightly to the floor. I did the same but I caught Avelen from falling flat face on the floor. I gently put her down and went to the front window kneeled down below the window and peered out of it.
I saw that the fire was completely burned out and a strange young tall man standing in front of the front door. That’s when I saw Trevino standing right next to him. Trevino looked towards me and mad a neighing noise. The tall man looked the same way and saw my peeking out the window. He smiled and waved but I quickly closed the curtains and lent back against the wall. Well at least I now know the unsolved answer of where Trevino disappeared to. He must have been close by when Trevino took off before.
