Is there a certian reason to when you use the *pop* or rate button.
I never use the pop button or rate button
I use it to let someone know I read or saw there work
Only if it is excellent fiction,artwork or a well done MV

I pop the stuff which i think deserves it. what kind of stuff deserves it? Well, i think anything that obviously required a lot of effort and/or skill to produce.
My reason is simple. If I like what I see I "pop" and usually "clip" it. Not a lot of people "pop" anything so I like to keep the community active by "popping" as much as possible.
I pop my friends, but then again those people are normally my friends because I find what they do to be good so basically I pop stuff I think is good and worth of the recognition. :)
Some time ago i started the 'art clan' where artists could post their work. I have popped almost everything there on the condition that it is original work and art. I do not pop avatars, AMV's, etc. Another criteria is the amount of work that has gone into it. It takes a lot of time and effort to make some art or fiction. I also pop Mack's scoop and Chun's round-up. If someone does a good thing by creating something good and worthwhile to the community here i also pop. The rating thingy is hardly ever used though.....
I only pop when it's good artwork (fiction, video, art, etc.) that hasn't been stolen from elsewhere. I (try to) rate all the fiction I review.
