Rain clung tight to Starlet as they jumped off the ledge of the balcony. She closed her eyes tight and expected to almost certainly fall to her death. She then realized that she didn't feel like she was falling at all, she wondered if they had jumped off the ledge at all. She slowly opened her eyes to see that she was indeed in the air but not falling, instead she noticed that they were floating down towards the ground. She looked at her feet and saw what looked like a strange transparent cloud beneath her feet and all around them. She looked up at Starlet who smiled at her and said, "Don't worry it's safe, you don't need to hold on so tight." Blushing, Rain loosened her grip on Starlet and watched as they floated down towards the ground and finally landed. Starlet held up a small orb and smiled, "Floating spell, never leave home without it." Rain stared at the small orb for a second but before she could ask about the spell she heard shouting coming from the building they just jumped off of.
Starlet grabbed her hand, "That's our cue to leave and leave quickly." They turned and ran down the dark street, they didn't get too far before Rain suddenly felt something hit her hard from behind. Rain let out a yell and grabbed her left shoulder as she stumbled forward. Starlet grabbed her before she fell and looked behind them to see Dice with her arms extended, her palms still smoking from the spell she just cast. As Dice prepared to cast another spell Starlet pulled another orb seemingly out of nowhere and threw it at Dice. The orb created a small explosion if front of Dice and they heard her scream. Starlet grabbed Rain's good arm and pulled to get her going again, "C'mon that spell will only knock her out for a short while." Rain started running down the street again as fast as the pain would allow her. As they ran both of them could hear the small mob after them, "I think we need to go a little faster," said Starlet as she looked behind them. Rain knew that in her condition she wouldn't be able to outrun their pursuers. She looked around at all the winding alleyways and grabbed Starlet's arm. "C'mon I know where we can go" They ducked into the next alleyway that came up.
They wound their way through the alleyways with Rain leading the way. After a while Starlet lost track of which pathways they had taken, "Are you sure you know where we're going?" "Yes," Rain replied not looking back, "I memorized a path through here just incase I needed to hide." Soon they stopped and Rain leaned against one of the walls, "I think we're safe here." She slid down the wall and sat on the ground, Starlet kneeled down next to her "How's your shoulder?" Rain winced as she moved her injured shoulder, "It should be fine. I have some potion at home I can take to heal it." Starlet looked at Rain not convinced, "Here let me look at your injury," she said as she reached towards Rain. Rain grabbed her hand before she touched her, "I said I'd be okay," she said sternly. She softened a little at the look of surprise on Starlet's face, "I'm sorry but I'm really fine," she grinned, "don't worry I've been dealt worse damage before so I'll be okay." Rain stood up, "Thanks for saving me back there, I owe ya." Starlet then stood, "Humph! I say you do! And don't think I won't let you forget it either, I might use that favor one day." Rain nodded, "Alright then, fair enough. Let's go I doubt Boras' men will still be looking through here now."
Rain led Starlet through the alleyways until they stepped on the street that led to Rain's house, "You know your way from here?" Rain asked and hoped that Starlet did, she didn't know how much longer she could walk with the pain from her shoulder. "Yeah this isn't far from where I'm staying," answered Starlet, "You sure you're okay?" she asked again. Rained nodded and winced at the pain, she smiled then pointed down the street, "I live just down the street I can make it there fine." Starlet looked down the street to where Rain was pointing, "You live in the knight village?" she said with more intrigue than surprise. She gave Rain a smile before saying goodbye and walking down the street. As Rain turned around to make her way home she heard Starlet calling out to her, "Hey! Hold on a second!" Rain turned around hoping she wasn't going to insist to treat her injury. "I almost forgot, this is for you," Starlet held out her hand that held a heavy looking pouch. Rain took it; it was heavier than it seemed, 'What's this?" Starlet grinned, "your night's winnings," she said then she winked and walked away. Rain stood watching her for a minute before opening the pouch to see a small pile of gold winking up at her. Smiling she closed the pouch and walked home.
Rain crept inside quietly so she wouldn't wake her mother up and snuck into her room. Once inside she carefully took off her shirt without causing herself more pain. She walked over to her nightstand and opened the drawer that held a variety of small vials. She picked two up and placed them on the table along with some clean cloth. She then proceeded to unbind her chest as fast as she dared, as she unwound the cloth from her chest she was relieved to see that she hadn't bled that much. Now she grabbed one of the bottles, pulled out the cork with her teeth, and poured a little of it on the clean clothe. Rain sighed before reaching over and wiping her shoulder with the cloth, she had to clench her jaw so she wouldn't yell out in pain. She felt her shoulder burn as the potion worked to close the wound. After a minute the pain died down to throbbing through her shoulder. She then took the other vial and took two swallows form it before closing it and putting everything back; she would take care of the bloodied clothes later. She finally laid down gently on her bed and drifted off to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
The next day Rain was awakened by her mother knocking on the door, " Rain honey are you awake?" Rain moaned and sat up, "Yeah I'm awake," she said yawning. She stood up and stretched then she reached over and felt her shoulder. Her hand was met with smooth skin and the pain was gone, the healing potions worked fast and were of good quality. She used her potions sparingly since they weren't very cheap and it was hard sneaking them past the guards. Rain lived in the knight village where the knights and their families resided. It was the only part of the city that had guards in the entrance. Rain got dressed and looked over at her nightstand where the pouch of gold sat. She walked over and quickly counted the coins. She was stunned at how much was there, the amount was more than what she had won during her last game. She smiled and promised to thank Starlet next time they met, she was sure that they would meet again sometime soon.
Rain walked into the kitchen where her mother was making some tea. Rain went through the cupboards and got herself some food. She walked over to her mother, gently kissed her on the cheek and took the tea to the table. "Are you feeling okay Rain?" Rain smiled even if her mother couldn't see her, "I'm doing fine mom, just feeling chipper today." Her mother smiled, "That's good to hear honey." They ate breakfast together then Rain decided to go out into town to the marketplace. She walked past the merchant tables looking through the merchandise trying to find something nice. Rain planned on trying to catch Starlet later that night and thank her for saving her and for the extra loot. With nothing interesting on display she decided to look into the shops nearby. She entered a store and started to look around. "May I help you?" Rain spun around to see who had spoken to her and froze. A girl stood before her, she was slender and attractive with long brown hair that flowed over her shoulders. Rain stared into a pair of emerald green eyes that she knew well. The girl stared back equally stunned, "Rain!?"
