CHAPTER 11
I put the window all the way down so to allow the wind to blow through my hair. I closed my eyes and relaxed. I felt different this morning, and it most likely was because of Seth and Felix tagging along. But guess just what ruined my good mood. Now if you guessed last nights dream, good for you, now go get yourself a nice treat. Yeah, I know I have analyzed this dream way more than I probably should, but for some reason it seemed engraved in my mind, but I really didn’t like thinking about it at all, I mean would you want to have a nightmare haunting you every time you thought you could possibly have a happy moment. I tried to put it aside for like the billionth time and glanced over at my parents. Seriously even they were in a good mood on this particular day. I smiled at that and my Dad seemed to notice.
“What’s got you so happy today?” he asked.
“Not sure,” I responded.
“Somehow reminds me of when you were much younger, you probably don’t even remember it, but I used to toss you in the air and catch you. Oh how you loved when I did that,” he turned to smile at me, and from that moment on everything went downhill.
It all occurred so fast. Mom yelled at Dad to look towards the road and I think we hit something because the next thing I know our car is spinning and tumbling out of control. All I could hear was Mom’s shrieking scream. I seriously think I felt my brain do turns in my skull, it felt terrible. The car kept turning and rolling out of control, and it seemed to never end. Suddenly one of the books Dad keeps in the back went flying into the window shield, which shattered into a lot of pieces. And then another cam straight at me and hit me in the head, which caused me to bash my head into the window next to me. I began to feel trickles of blood come down along my forehead and go into my eyes, which let me tell you, stings like hell! My seatbelt then started to fell tighter, much tighter, against my chest, and I was now finding it really hard to breath in. Oh, just thought I’d say how ironic this was, especially since seatbelts are suppose to save people, not strangle them to death. I felt my lungs burn with the need for oxygen and I desperately tried to suck in some air.
Finally, the car came to sudden silent halt, but the thing is, was that it had stopped up-side-down. I really started to panic about getting the seatbelt off. I quickly with my clumsy fingers clicked the release button and fell down to the roof of the car, head first and landed on my back. I slowly turned my body over into my stomach and crawled over to my parents. I realized that they both seemed to be out cold. I knew that I needed to go get out of the car to get help. I attempted pushing the door open, which didn’t work so well, so I went to plan B and started to kick the window until it finally cracked. I went legs out first but the second I finally got out my body immediately became exhausted and I just laid there with my body covered with various cuts and bruises. I conjured up all the remaining energy I had to crawl to my Mom’s door and try to open it, but the door was more jammed than mine was. I hadn’t even realized that I was trembling uncontrollably and I didn’t seem to notice that pain the mixing of my blood and sweat was causing. I suddenly heard a car door open behind me and then Seth and Felix were by my side.
“Amelia, your hurt!” Felix said alarmingly.
“It looks worse than it feels, trust me. But guys I can’t get my parents out and we need to get the out now!” I must have been the shock that had disabled me to smell the gas, “Do you smell that?!”
“Yeah, its smells like a gas leak,” Seth replied. “Felix, get Amelia away from here and I’ll see how I can get these doors opened” It was obvious that Seth was taking charge.
Felix did as he was instructed and helped me up to the car, and I knew that I wasn’t the lightest person but he did his best. Once he led me to their car, which to me felt like miles away, he placed me slowly into the back seat and headed back to where ever our car had landed. I felt so sleepy but I used the very little remaining strength I had to stay awake. I attempted to get up into a sitting position, but it was pretty useless. Yet I tried again after I took a few deep breathes and this time I was more successful. As I got up my whole body seemed very sore and cramped and all I could do was groan at the pain.
I suddenly could hear Felix telling Seth to hurry up. I glanced over to where I heard the voices come from and once I saw our car I was shocked. It was all smashed and distorted. Then for an instant, I think I had somewhat of a vision? but it wasn’t that clear, yet I could make out Seth trying really hard to get my Dad out but the car door wouldn’t budge and the car blew up and burned anything around it. My emotions took me over and I couldn’t help but be furious with this stupid vision or whatever the hell it was. Then again it could absolutely be possible that the car would explode, that made me panic and act on instinct.
I somehow managed to maneuver my way into the drivers’ seat and realize that the car keys were still in the ignition hole. I turned the car on and begged God to allow me to drive this car without killing anyone and that I wouldn’t pass out, for the billionth time, and crash. At first I went fast and pretty straight and then made a sharp stop a few feet away from Felix
Felix stared wide eyed in amazement at me, “What are you doing! You should be lying down, not driving cars!”
“Hurry up guys! I just had this really strong feeling that we shouldn’t be near here,” my voice cracked since I was at the verge of tears.
“Alright, let me just get this door opened and have your Dad out,” Seth shouted over the car. This is it! That’s what I saw, Seth trying to get my Dad out, but it was just too late.
“Felix get my mom in the car, and go over to help Seth, now!” I practically shouted at him. He did it without questioning me. He quickly placed my mom in the back seat and went over to assist Seth.
They both yanked on the door but nothing happened. “This door is really jammed,” Seth grunted. I felt my body begin to tremble again. I looked at Seth’s exhausted expression and I felt I needed to go and help, but in my state all I’d be is another burden, I mean I couldn’t even get my head off the steering wheel because I was so weak. The “vision” kept replaying in my head like a short horror film. I started to feel my eyes water and my vision blur.
“I got it!” I jerked my head up and saw Seth pull my Dad out and now the tears were strolling down my face. I was still really nervous that something horrible would happen. I hadn’t watched Seth place my Dad along side my Mom. Felix got into the passenger seat, while Seth helped me scoot over onto Felix’s lap so he could take the drivers seat. I slowly placed my head against his shoulder and almost fell asleep, until I felt the car shake. That’s when I realized that our car had just blown up.
“Jesus! That was way too close of a call,” Seth yelled. I felt so relieved but now the pain was too overwhelming and so I closed my eyes and fell asleep against Felix.
