Chapter Seventy-Two

Scenario was dreading leaving Alice behind. If anything were to happen to her, he would never be able to forgive himself. As he ran towards Sector 3, he remembered Alice telling him that the area was being unused by Chase and that would be the safest place in the Death Zone. Finally he arrived at the Sector but he realized that no one had arrived yet, but he kept himself from worrying and just slipped into the sector’s fence and waited.

            At that moment, he wished he’d brought himself a pack of cigarettes or at least asked Alice for a few of them. The funny thing was that he was really trying to quiet, which of course he was doing poorly at achieving. All he could do now was lean against the fence and take a short rest. Scenario rested until he heard faint footsteps approaching him. As the steps came closer, he slowly reached for his gun, and then the steps came to a sudden halt. He clicked the safety lock off and brought the gun up, and swiftly he stepped out from behind the fence and aimed the gun directly at Marcus’ head, just as Marcus had his gun pointed over Scenario’s chest. When they both realized that they were aiming at each other, they burst out laughing.

            Seth and Felix watched dumbfounded at how lightly Marcus and Scenario reacted, when just seconds ago they came so close to killing each other.

            “Well looks like you’ve made it here in one piece,” Scenario smirked. Although Scenario didn’t seem it but he was very relieved that it was only Marcus since he wasn’t in the best moods to kill.

            “Yeah, we’re all here but I don’t see Alice,” Marcus stated.

            “She’s in the middle of something right now, so she told me to go on ahead to make sure you made it her and now it seems we’ll have to go on without her.” Marcus could hear the sadness in Scenario’s voice. “Anyways we’ve fallen a bit behind schedule, so we better hurry up and get going.” He smoothly placed his gun back in the holster he had in the back of his pants. Marcus did the same then and took out the map.

            “Right, well at the moment we’re right at the edge of Sector 3 and according to Alice, she thinks Amelia is either in Sector 5 or 6, but we have to keep in mind that these is just an idea, so on that note…” Marcus began just as Alphonse cut him off.

            ‘She’s not in a Sector…Chase’s, her location is at Chase’s!’

            “What makes you think that?” Scenario asked.

            ‘During the vision back in the library, I believe she was in a Sector, but now she has been moved and is now at Chase’s.’

            Marcus slowly nodded, “Well Alphonse, out of any of us here, Pria and yourself are the only ones with a spiritual link to her, so your instincts are very important.”

            “I guess this cuts our plans in half,” Scenario blurted as he checked the time, nine-oh-five. “Alright then, we’ve got less than three hours,” he said when he remembered that Alice had told him that Amelia needed to be out of here by midnight. “Splitting up into groups is our best approach on the situation because we don’t all want to be barging in at Chase’s that would just be careless. Alphonse, Marcus, and Seth you go on ahead first. And then Felix and I will go and enter from around the side, everyone understand?”

            “Yeah,” they all responded.

            “We’ll go now.” Marcus began running just as the others followed. Scenario ran his hands through his now damp hair and leaned once again on the fence.

            As he did this, Felix watched him and wondered how he could act so calm. For all they knew Amelia could be getting tortured and all they were doing was hanging around doing absolutely nothing. It also bothered him that he knew nothing about Scenario, and then there was the annoying feeling he had because he couldn’t get himself to relax and act like the others.

            Scenario glanced over at how deep in though Felix was and smirked. He knew Felix was just a year younger than him but at times he looked so much younger, but when he had that serious expression on he could see the resemblance to Marcus. He then began to think about how different his brother and he seemed. Felix looked like the type who really had to think things through before he acted and sometimes would over analyze situations. While on the other hand, Seth seemed like he went on instincts and would most likely act on impulses.

            Suddenly they were both yanked out of their thoughts when they heard the phone in Scenario’s pocket.

            He answered it, “Yeah?”

            “Scen, it’s me, Bryce. Hey I’m calling to tell you that I won’t be meeting up with you guys. Alice changed the plans and told me to head over to Sector 4, while Pria and she went to look around those other Sectors,” Bryce hastily spat out.

            “What’s at Sector 4? And shouldn’t need to go to the other Sectors sine we have a good idea as to her current location.”

            “Are you serious!? Shit, well the only way you’re going to get in contact with Alice now is by finding her. Oh and Sector 4 is where the weapons are held, Alice told me to block of that area with an electrical field.”

            “And are you sure Al gave you this job?”

            “Yeah! I found it surprising too but hey this is the first job she’s ever given me that plays a big part in our mission.”

            “Well since Al said so, follow her orders and… wait, why would I have to go looking for her? She has her phone.”

            “Slow reaction much? But yeah, she no longer has it, and she told me that we have to get rid of the phones once we’re done with this conversation.”

            “Okay, I guess I can see why she would want that. Hmm I probably should go looking for her then and Bryce…”

            “Yeah?”

            “Be careful man.”

            Scenario could hear Bryce muffling a laugh, “Okay big bro,” and he hung up.

            Felix saw Scenario sigh and drop his cell phone. The next thing he realizes is him smashing his foot against it. “What are you doing?! We might have needed that for later,” Felix shouted.

            Scenario immediately shoved his hand over Felix’s mouth, “Speak any more loudly and they won’t have a single problem finding us. Now, if you’re so intrigued with what I just did, I did it because orders said so, alright.”

            “Those orders make no sense.”

            “What Al commands, is what goes, but I’ll try to explain it to you as we go searching for her a bit, then we’ll head to Chase’s just like the others.” Scenario leaned off the fence and motioned Felix which direction they would head in. they quickly ran to the first building in Sector 5, once they checked that there was no one around, they dashed down the road until they heard a few footsteps. They quickly stopped, waited and then began to run again. As they finally passed Sector 5, Scenario started to explain,” Alice ordered us to destroy the phones because, one they’re a huge nuisance to have around even on vibrate, and two if somehow an enemy got a hold of one of them, information on others could get out. The only reason we brought them with us today was because Alice told us we’d need them for awhile.”

            “How would she know if you’d need them for awhile or possibly not at all?”

            “She’s got strong intuition,” Scenario responded. But he did know what Felix meant since Alice’s ways of leading wasn’t logic in any way you looked at it but then again it wasn’t stupid either.
