Chapter Seventy-Six

“Finally,” Bryce blurted. He had, for that past forty minutes, constructed an electric force field around the section of Sector 4 that contained all the weapons, and of course there had been many things that had delayed him from getting the job done quicker but he was glad that he had finally finished most of his mission. All that was left was to eliminate all of the ammo. In order to do that, he would have to get over to the chamber that held all the ammunition and once there he’d simply explode it all with one electrical wave.

            He assured himself that the barrier would hold while he made his way over to the ammunition chamber, he quickly leaped out the back window. As he got closer the chamber, he noticed the crowd of guards outside the barrier, shooting at it, as if bullets could really get through. Idiots, he thought and muffled a laugh. Finally Bryce arrived to the chamber, and as he ran, he couldn’t help but stand dumbfounded at the mounts over mounts of ammunition crates stacked all the way to the top of what he assumed was 100 foot warehouse. He then remembered what Alice had suggested he do before he destroyed all of the ammunition crates, ‘Bryce try to find some ammo for the Berretta M9A1’s and the Browning Hi-Power 9mm. It’s not like we’re hiding the fact  that were running extremely low on ammo, so might as well steal from the psychotic rich and avoid dealing with the greedy bastards that price us three times what we know it actually cost.’ And Bryce knew that she absolutely had a point, lately they had been running low on bullets for their weapons and with the insane prices for it now, having the mother load of ammo right in front of him was a sign from God.

            In order for him to find the right ammunition he couldn’t possibly go through every crate until he found them, time at this moment wasn’t on his side, and so he would use this trick that Alice had taught him some time after they first meet.

            Up until that time, Bryce was only aware of the fact that he could control electricity but he had no idea about the hidden tricks he was capable of, until Alice mentioned them to him. She had been observing his power very close and thought that he should test out a one of the many experiment of hers.

            Alice stood in front of him with a thin wooden box in her hand. She asked him what he thought was in the box. He just replied with a shrug but Alice wouldn’t accept that as an answer. She said, ‘We’re going to try something out, I could be wrong but it wouldn’t hurt to test it out. ‘Kay, I want you to place this over your eyes,’ she threw a black bandana over to him.

            ‘Are you serious?” he looked down at it.

            ‘Of course I am, now put it on!” he did just as she commanded. ‘Good, now I want you to kneel down and place your palm against the ground.’ He thought what she was making him do was weird but he knew much better than to get on Alice’s POed side. ‘Now, what I ask you to do next might sound…stupid but you won’t hesitate and don’t comment on every single thing I say,, you got that.’ That just made him even more confused but he listened intently. ‘I want you to send an electric current all around you until you hit me.’

            ‘But if I do that I could kill...’ he didn’t finish what he said because Alice abruptly answered back.

            ‘I said don’t comment Bryce!’ he shouted at him and he shut his mouth. ‘I know you think you’re going to hurt me by doing this but trust me, I’ll survive.’ Bryce found that to be in a strange way, reassurance from her. And so he did what she said and he sent a wave around him but nothing happened. ‘No, don’t just go and randomly do it…actually let’s try a different approach.  I want you to listen to my voice and direct the shock right at me.’ He tried to pick up her voice and again tried to send a direct shock at her. He heard a muffled grunt, he immediately reached up to take off the bandana but Alice yelled at him not to touch it. ‘Don’t take it off until I tell you to. Okay, that was a good hit, now try it again and again until something happens.’

            ‘Until what happens?’

            She simply answered, ‘You’ll see.’ He repeatedly sent wave after wave of shocks at Alice until something started to happen, he started to notice that he could see the outline of a blue, green, orange, and red figure. The more he sent the electric waves the clearer the image became, until he realized that the figure was holding something.

            ‘Alice!’

            ‘Good, that means you’re starting to see it,’ he immediately shook his head in excitement. ‘What is happening is sort of what radars do, but with you it’s more that the electric currents react with all the chemicals and gases in the air your power. When you see the figures you see things in a sort of heat vision, right?’ he nodded again, ‘those colors are the result of the reactants and it’s pretty much how you can tell where I am. So from this point on, we will be doing sessions to get you to be able to distinguish substances and objects.

            It was from that day forth that Bryce obtained a new view on his powers. With it he was capable of fighting without having to depend on his sight, he could tell any object from another and he could get the layout of an area. They called it the E-S which was just short for Electronic Sensory. And although it took awhile for Alice to help him discover a way to use it without actually having to shock a person, it remained useful in battles.

            Bryce placed both is palms against the cold concrete and sent several small ES waves around the room until he sensed the Beretta M9A1 and Browning Hi-Power 9mm bullets packed in the crates on the other side of the chamber. He ran towards the crates and took out his gun. He aimed it directly at the latch and shot it off. He continued the same procedure three more times and packed all the ammunition into his backpack. When he was done and picked up the bag, he had a bit of a struggle since it was so heavy. It was a good thing that Alice and Bryce had made him work out and lift weight, otherwise there was no way that he would have been capable of picking up the backpack.

            Once he had gotten everything he needed, he ran back threw the front door and turned back to the chamber. Now, he could have followed every little single thing that Alice asked, but he was known to ignore her commands here and there. So even though Alice asked him to only blow up the ammunition chamber, why stop there? He had brought a bunch on dynamite sticks with him that he had bundled up together right before they left Marcus’ house earlier that day. Bryce thought, I better to just get rid of all the weapon and ammunition chambers in one big bang. With the barrier up no one outside would necessarily get hurt, especially since he was already passing his boundaries. So while he was still inside the barrier and it was still functioning he ran around and grabbed the bundles from his bag, lit the tops and threw them through the windows and repeatedly did this until he was outside of the electric field.

  He continued to run, unnoticed by the commotion of the guards’ right outside the force field, what a treat they’re in for, Bryce thought as he ran right through the doctors corridors in Sector 4. Suddenly there was a huge explosion that almost made him tumble, but he got his composer and he couldn’t help but look back at his masterpiece. It seemed the force field was able to hold in the actual explosion but it fell right after it, and all the smoke came rushing out. Bryce immediately brought up a small electric shield to prevent the smoke from hitting him.

            Now that all of Sector 4 was in the midst of a huge uproar because of the explosion, Bryce had to get out of there as fast possible. He ran until he reached the edge of Sector 5 and he was about to run to the left and head to Sector 3 to relax a little before he went on to search for the others, he realized that he sensed something in the direction of Sector 3. He went with his gut feeling and ran towards it and that’s when he saw Scenario, in what seemed to be a fight. Looks like someone needs a helping hand, Bryce thought and he ran over to Scenario, who was still oblivious to the fact that his secret that he was approaching the fight.
