Jessica was finishing up her summerschool homework in the kitchen while her little sister Sarah slept in her room up stairs. her mom was out but she would be home any minute. Jessica really didn't like babysitting but she had to get this homework done.
    at around 9:30 the front door opened and shut.
    "Hey mom!" called Jessica. but Jessica's mother didn't answer. plus, the footsteps she heard were heavier. like a man's.
    "hello? who's there?". still no answer. Jessica soon heard whoever it was go into the living room and upstairs to the second floor. she heard the footsteps go into each room and come out.
    "Oh my God, Sarah!" she said to herself. she ran upstairs, still scared but determined to protect sarah. no one was there in the landing, in any of the rooms. when she checked sarah's room. no one was there but sarah.
    she went back downstairs, still scared out of her wits. soon, she heard the footsteps come back downstairs. it came closer to the kitchen and the door connecting the two rooms opened halfway---
    "GET OUT!" Jessica shouted out of fear.
    A moment's pause...
    then the door slowly closed. the footsteps moved back toward the living room, and out the front door. a minute later, her mom came home.
    "mom" jessica asked, "did u see anyone on your way over here?"
    'No" she answered."Why?"
