the randomness of life

one: "It's my moving day and I'll cry if I want to!"

Leini Sennian is marching up and down the hallway angrily.

"I don't see why we have to move!" she complains.

"You know perfectly," answers her father.

(Hello and good day to you. I am the unpronounced-name narrator who is omnipitent. I am from another universe and future altogether and not a part of the tale before you. Please ignore me as much as possible. I am just making a documentary about the life of a girl named Leini Sennian. A simple girl with simple wishes, and whose life is about to get a little bit complicated.)

Her father looks at her sternly, "Now, Leini, I've told you time and time again that this was inevitable. We've lived on this planet long enough and it's about time we moved off. I mean honestly - the ozone layer is almost gone and you know how much I hate getting sunburns. That, I can't swim very well and having twenty-feet water in our backyard isn't enjoyable,"

"You just wanna move in with Chance!" growls Leini.

(Since I am omnipotent, I will tell you of the current situation since you do not have the luxury of being able to read minds and see into different spaces of time like I do.

(Leini Sennian is a fifteen year old girl, who lives on the planet Earth with her father Rale. Rale is a professional mad scientist, which is a very popular profession in this current time period. Rale is uprooting his daughter so that they can live on Mars. He is stating the increasingly dangerous climate as motivation for the move, but his real reason - as Leini has stated - is so that he can move in with his long-time boyfriend Chance Bloom, a Martian. And remember, ignore me. I'm not part of the story.)

"I will inform you that I am merely thinking about your future," protests her father, Ral, "And there's nothing on Earth that Mars doesn't have - except for an ozone layer and polar icecaps. There are plenty of schools and universities and job opportunities are Mars. It's a land of opportunity!"

"Can't you think of s ynonym for 'opportunity'?" says Leini, "You said it twice,"

"The bottomline is we're moving and there's nothing you can do to change my mind," replies Ral, "Now stop being a brat and start acting your age for a change and help me pack,"

Leini protests, pleads, and begs with her father but he is unmoved in his decision to remain on Earth. Leini eventually gives in. She packs her things, says good-bye to her two best friends, Ed and Tam, and waves farewell to them as the ship takes off for the red planet.

(Mars was first colonized in the 2010s by Thaddeus J.R. Cray - a very bored and eccentric billionaire who everybody secretly  hated because he was so rich but couldn't help but enjoy his company because he was gosh darn nice and had a childlike wonder with everything.

(At first, things went smoothly but in the style of a cheesy science-fiction horror movie shown on cable television, the native Martians attacked - not exactly happy about foreigners on their land. Eventually, the humans and Martians came to their difference only after several misunderstands and a variety of laser guns to the head.

(Now Martians and humans live in peace. And interbreed on a variety of accounts.)

The air on Mars smells funny to Leini, but that is probably because air had to be instituted into Mars since it was originally a dead, but very fascinating, planet for many science-fiction and science fantasy and fantasy writers.

Then, on their new home planet, Leini and Ral carry their luggage out to the lobby and prepare for their new lives.
